Look at the Ducks they have the line of Bonino Smith Pelly and Etem all big bodied crashing the net and putting pucks in .
Kassian Virtanen would be a good start of that type of a line. Give the kid some time on the third to get use to it. |

I know you are joking but Crosby is starting to return to Earth. Go back to Olympics and last years playoffs . he is becoming human again. - VANTEL

exactly.....
so lets pick a player who will satisfy a need - high-end skill....
Gritty players are a dime a dozen....I put money on Virtanen never being anything more than a 3rd liner..... - chompsey
He was drafted first overall in the WHL draft and he finished 6th in goal scoring, 35th overall, in the WHL. What exactly are you calling "high end" skill? Do you know how many kids play in the WHL? |

Not only that but in the West we need the big bodied player. It is the way this conference is built.
I hope Shink can provide the speed and skill. it is a lot to ask of a kid that has not played an NHL regular season game but damn that goal,he got last year sure looked purdy. |

there isn't a ton of gritty skill in the 1st round, from what I have read. Just Bennet and Richie. |

Say you don't get a trade you want for Kesler , I would finally play him all year with the twins.
Sedin Sedin Kesler
Burrows Horvat Kassian
Virtanen Mathias Hansen - VANTEL
Could see Santorelli back too. He looked pretty good with Kesler. Likely because he plays the center's role on the wing and lets Kesler play the winger's role at center. |

Definitely lean towards a bigger body being in the West. |

If Kes is back I need to insist he plays with the Twins. Bringing out the same old stuff will land us at the bottom again.
he plays on the PP because he is the best , let's roll out at least one good line instead of wasting half a year trying to figure out who plays with who.
Kesler is a crap passer so this way we don't have to watch him trying to control the play. Plus he is a natural RH shot. |

It is...but are you building for now or for a few years from now? In a few years the big California teams will be getting old. Not saying they will be crap, but I think you build your team around your best players, in a style that works for them.
In the last couple months of the season, Eakins started playing Hall, Nuge and Eberle together again. Not a big line, but they produced well against those big California teams. |

Just trade him to Pittsburgh and get it over with. I wonder if Shero regrets playing hardball for him now? |

Look at the first line I just posted above
Sedin Sedin Kesler
Second line is the big gritty line
Virtanen ? Kassian |

Oh I see, I thought you were saying you need a big team to compete with the other big teams. My counter to that was maybe everyone else needs to be a quick passing, fast skating team to keep up with your quick skating, quick passing team.

Then get quick. Make the dominate teams adapt to you, rather than trying to mold your team to fit their style. |

Me personally ? Pouliot Sutter and a first.
if St.Louis can get Callahan and 2 firsts Kesler can get a first a prospect and a player. |

Vantel wants a high end defence-man prospect for Kesler; personally I'd like a high end center prospect. |

Truthfully either one is very helpful.
Pouliot controls the flow of the game from the back end , great hockey IQ.
Barrie like.
Like Nucker said the other day , so many holes where do you start fixing first. |
