People had no way of prognosticating just how bad the Tortorella 'era' would be, that there would be significant injuries to all of the core at one time or another, and that we'd still be dealing with the distraction of the Luongo situation. I think predicting a 3-4th place finish was actually reasonable at that time. - Zogg
Sorry . I did the Sedin Blog last summer before Torts was hired. All the signs were coming that this team was getting old. I based my thinking on our previous 2 PO departures.
I am forecasting now even with a new coach. Canucks current core is not better than SJ ANA LA MINN CHI DAL St L or Col . So we need a bounce back year to finish 9th |

Hard to believe that the Lightning are 10mins away from getting 2 first round drafts picks and Ryan Callahan for Marty St. Louis - Chest Rockwell
Good point. I forgot about that clause. |

Penguins miss Matt Cooke and players like him. They need a heavier lineup. - LeftCoaster

Crosby for Kesler. - hankthetank
Throw in a few Pens firsts. Crosby has done sh*t in his last few games, he's on the decline. |

Fair enough, and good job in making some predictions as to how the season would end. But please note there was more to the debacle than just Torts (although that was certainly a prominent factor).
As touched on, it seems that everything that could possibly go wrong, did go wrong. Injuries (to key players) exacerbated all these elements (and if you were able to predict that we'd have such a significant number of man-games lost to key players, then please kindly forward next week's lotto numbers), and also played a significant impact on the final results.
It's just impossible to be competitive in a league which has seen more parity than ever, without your best players (I would say that, even with the disaster that was Tortorellas coaching/system, we still would have at least made the play-offs had we not had injuries to our top players - Henrik, Daniel, Burrows, Edler - and Santorelli, whose production was not only a pleasant surprise but turned out to be more important to the team's success than anyone would have imagined). And of course the Luongo/Gillis fiasco didn't help things. All in all a major clusterf*ck of a year as a result of quite a number of variables |

An absolute fcuk-show of a year. But it all boils down to Mike Gillis not turning enough of the lineup over. It's like the Canucks franchise is afraid of youth - pisses me off beyond belief. |

Pens would be stupid to trade Malkin, if laugh if they do. Letang and Fleury are different cases though.
I'm gonna laugh if AV wins the cup, this city is gonna lose it's sh*t. |

This is the truth. I hate to keep on referring to poop I said but I have said that more than once. A rolling stone gathers no moss. You even jokingly called me an old man the last time I said it. You need change to grow. |

I laugh at all the love for AV now on twitter, he was so done and stale here. Not to mention the Rangers lineup is better than the Canucks lineup over the past two years. |

Yup - totally agree. I just don't agree with trading the twins, we both have our stance on that. |

Rich getting richer in terms of young talent. Any idea on who the head scout for TB is? |

Yeah we ran him out of town for a good reason. I again blame the core more than AV , but He is a taker not a giver. |

If it is Benning he has a pretty good knowledge of the East Coast coach.
My ideal coach is Quenville. |

Wonder if either he or Tim Burke would take an assistant GM + head scout job in Vancouver(I'd imagine with a nice raise). Similar role that McNab and Fenton have right now and Futa just got in LA. |

Joe Q or Babcock would be nice, but those guys aren't available so I'd try to find a guy like Cooper, potentially hire Willie Desjardins. |

I know you are joking but Crosby is starting to return to Earth. Go back to Olympics and last years playoffs . he is becoming human again. |
