You are so wrong . There are so many levels as why I dislike having the twins on the Canucks . Declining stats, is just one reason. Lack of toughness and leadership is another. Taking ice time from young players . Puck hogs . Do we really need to get into this crap again? I have been quiet for days about them, let's just all keep quiet and see how they do next year.

Fair enough, I'll agree to keep my snout shut unless the subject gets brought up again

Right, sorry.

I imagine Ekland will be breaking the Sedins and Kesler to Pittsburgh rumour shortly. (E16 Confirmed epic blockbuster)

I thought he already put that out previously as pretty much a done deal?

Vantel, on a slightly different topic, I'm wondering if you've noticed the significant decline in Malkin's production the last few years (let's strike out the one bounce-back year which you/we also did as concerns Henrik's 112 point season in terms of being an anomaly)

2008-2009 - 113 points in 82 games
2009-2010 - 77 points in 67 games - pro-rated 94 points in 82 games (same year that Henrik had 112 points in 82 games)
2010-2011 - 37 points in 43 games - pro-rated 70 points in 82 games (same year Henrik had 94 points in 82 games)
2011-2012 - 109 points in 75 games (strike this year out as a bounce back anomoly)
2012-2013- 33 points in 31 games - pro rated to 87 points in 82 games
2013-2014 - 72 points in 62 games - 88 points in 82 games

As you can see, since 2008-2009 we''ve seen a drop off of 25 points to levels of point-per-game status. Yikes!

A few more fun facts:

Games played since 2006 - Henrik - 610
Games played since 2006 - Malkin - 518

Cap hits - Henrik - $7 million through 2017
Cap hits - Malkin - $9.5 million through 2019-2020

Only major diffference in favour of Malkin is age

So, who provides the better over-all value and production?

I think you guys should just fix the 2nd line and the goaltending by free agency and trading picks and prospects and just try to win the cup next year.

You guys still want to win one right?

That's a (frank) of a lot of work to prove a point that will likely be ignored/lost on Vantel. U can't sway him with facts or logic.

Well said . My only real thought was go post this in the Penns blog see if they agree. Didn't change my thoughts one bit.

Cups matter not stats.

I know you were taking a shot but I could care less.

Shot indeed but I actually agree with you. You have 2 real options, win now with the Sedins or get rid of them.

I bet you if Zogg or any other Canuck poster went in to Pens blog and said guys would you trade Malkin for the twins they would be laughed out or banned.

Remember, don't let facts get in the way of a perplexing and inexplicable hate-on for two of the best players in the NHL

And yes, apparently I'm a masochist (don't worry, I'm absolutely certain he'll come around ). Until then, we'll hold off on sending him the Sedin gift baskets

Probably. The age is the biggest factor. Malkin will probably have inconsistent seasons ranging from good to great, it is likely the Twins will have a bump from last year but will decline steadily after that. Having said that, Ibthink with a good coach and 4 free agent signings the Canucks can win with this core.

Who gives a sh*t what Pens fans (on a Pens board, no less!) say about two players they know very little about. Ask them why, with all that super star power and all world talent, why they've only won one cup with this particular all-star incarnation of the team/roster

I can respect your opinion, and not that it matters, but at least on this board, you are in the miniscule minority when it comes to your perplexing and inexplicable views (at least in my opinion) on the Sedins.

The Sedins were 2 of the best....are either of them among the top 20 in their respective positions now? I'm sure they will bounce back a bit but u can't stop Father Time.

One guy on the first pager of the Pens blog asked Hamhuis Kesler and the first for Malkin ad it got shot down .

Be adventurous take your stats and go post them on the Pens blog and try to sel your snake oil that Henrik is better than Malkin.

I have to say I'm very surprised at the recent turn of events in this series. I just don't get it, who do you put the blame on? I think Fleury has to take some of the responsiblity, maybe Bylsma as well, but what about the rest of the cast? where have they been? what the hell is the matter with a team that has so much talent but always seems to come short of reaching expectations?

Agreed - as they're getting older, the need for the Sedins to get at least a bit more sheltered minutes by having a second line that can contribute consistently, can't be underscored enough.

Are you kidding me? That team has all the same holes as Edmonton, except the pieces that are in place are waaay better.
Point is, you can't win a good top six and little else.

You are absolutely correct - Canuck fans have INFINITELY more knowledge about the CANUCKS than any other fanbase does.
