Brian Elliott? The guy who has been below league average for pretty much every team he's played on except St Louis? He's had two seasons in his NHL career when his save % was over .910. - Jsaquella
So you admit he's been good for St Louis? |

What exactly has made us a better team since trading Carter and Richards? As it stands our playoff record prior to trading them was much better. This isn't to same I hate nor blame what we already have. - SuperSchennBros
What has made them a lesser team is losing Pronger. You don't lose a guy like that and not feel it for awhile.
It's not about blame, it's about identifying weakness and addressing it. The Flyers get killed at 5 on 5, in part, because their defensemen can't regularly make outlet passes. Grossmann is a factor there. It's not blaming him, it's simple true.
The teams that are still playing, for the most part, have a lot of defensemen that can make a smart outlet pass and not get hemmed in their own end. The lone exception is Montreal, who for some reason keeps running out Douglas Murray.

Of all the things we're gonna argue about, why are we gonna argue about Brian (frank)ing Elliot?

Someone was posting that there's better options out there besides Emery for a Flyers goaltender signing. His name was thrown into the mix. |

I say pair Grossmann with somebody better than Mark Streit. - SuperSchennBros
Streit was our best dman toward the end of the season and in the playoffs
The pairing does lack speed, but streit showed me surprising physicality |

Yeah, kind of why I suggested him as a possible back up. Why suggest somebody who isn't any good-or at least isn't as good as Emery?
Elliott has played well in St Louis, behind a very good defensive team. But I doubt there's many teams that would be eager to sign him as a starter. |

Nope. Eliott was mentioned as a possible replacement for Emery as back up |

Streit played very well down the stretch. I'd like to see him paired with Coburn, myself |

I see I see.
Backreading is for squares anyway.
Definitely thought that little exchange at the top of this page had the potential to blossom into a lovely argument over a backup goalie |

You mean as eager as we were to take a chance on Mason on a poorly constructed defensive team, with Grossmann being a key piece? |

Nah, just a discussion.
I'd be fine if Emery returned, but I'd like it to be for less money. |

I think bringing Timonen back for one more year is a mistake. His speed is gone and he was never super fast. I think having him on the roster only hurts the Flyers. Gustafsson can make up for that loss in some capacity. |
