Agreed. Another thought I had was if a team felt they were close and looking for that critical veteran piece to push them firmly into the Cup contender discussion (eg MIN), they might be willing to sacrifice a piece for the future for a piece right now (ie Kesler). It would really have to be one of those "all-in" decisions for a GM to consider parting with the types we've been discussing: Granlund, Johanson, Schenn, etc.
And yet another possible consideration if a franchise is in the toilet and desperately needs a face to put on the banners (Kesler) and put butts in seats. Florida is a one such franchise that comes to mind. After seeing home tickets on StubHub selling for less than $5, how much worse can it really get? - AlexF
Johansen is going nowhere, he's the real deal for Columbus. Also, Kesler would never agree to go to Florida IMO. |

Who knows, we're speculating. But those are the alternative scenarios that come to mind in finding a willing trade partner.
Of course if Kesler plants his feet on his desired locations then the return will most likely be less than grand. |

I've scouring thru the depth charts to see who's a good fit, can't really come up with anyone who's already established except maybe Brassard, O'Reiily or Schenn? |

If Chicago loses they may pay up for Kesler via Terevainen.
But he needs a year in the AHL to "soak". |

I was/am stating that if you want change then you actually have to do something about it.
I have seen a lot of posts on movement to make change being shot down by fans that don't want to let go of players. - VANTEL
I've always been open to moving players to change the chemistry and provide an influx of youth if at all possible, in order to improve our team The only players that I feel strongly about retaining (unless there was a mind-boggling deal out there where the return would be monumental) are the high end prospects (Jensen, Horvat, Shinkaruk etc) the Sedins, Burrows, Kassian, Hamhuis, Booth (as has been discussed earlier he has one year left on his contract and he finally seems to be healthy - additionally, he was one of Canucks best players down the stretch) as well as some footsoldiers like Higgins, Hansen (although I'd be open to moving them as well if the we got decent value for either).
For the right return I would have no problem in moving the likes of Kesler, Edler, Bieksa (although on the fence about him), Garrison, just off the top of my head.
The problem is, even if for whatever reason management or fans demanded the Sedins be moved, realistically it's just no feasible, for many reasons that have already been discussed. In Burrows case, he brings much more to the table than stats, and we would get nowhere near a fair return for him. It's fun to be creative and put forth some significant trade proposals but most of these hypotheticals are simply not realistic whether due to cap-concerns, NTC, quality or return coming back etc, just to name a few of the many factors involved |

I guess you slotted him in as top 6 and not third line like AVs ?
I like him but I am on the fence as to whether he can produce enough offence.
I have Horvat slotted in as second line center at a much cheaper rate (no numbers mentioned ) in 2015 2016 season. |

He played wing all year because they had Duchene and Stastny as their 1/2. Mostly anyways.
Edit: he had 28 goals and 64 pts - WTF does a kid have to do to impress you? Which is 18th in league scoring out of 750 players by the way. |

Who are you trading for him?
I never knew his numbers . From the few games I seen of him he plays gritty and I always thought of him as a third liner. I never knew his NUMBERS |

The good doctor doesn't like him because he's soft. Granlund is soft and I'd love to have him, all in your perception I guess. |

In an ideal world Horvat would come into camp this fall, play lights out, and earn that second line center spot. A 40 to 50 point year would be awesome! Trading Kesler, Edler and or Higgins for a LW'er would then be priority number one. |

Matt Moulson is now a healthy scratch. I wonder if that will hurt his wage demands this offseason. |
