Pretty unethical to not let a persons career advance because you don't like the other owner.
- LeftCoaster

I doubt that would actually happen. Remember not too along ago the Stars and Canucks were discussing an Ott trade?

Ward would be a nice addition - big body, good hands, good net presence.
- Zogg

Fehr would be a good third liner too. That would be Ward Kassian Fehr Hansen down the right side.

So we're gonna have a 3rd line that consists of Higgins, Hansen, Mathhias, Kassian, Schroeder, Dalpe, Richardson, Booth, Ward and Fehr? I don think they allow that?

Yeah, we could use another half-dozen of those.

Not quite sure I'm sold on Fehr. He's one of those players that always seems to be on the verge of breaking out but has never lived up to his potential (which of course you can say about a lot of players, though, except that there were higher expectations of him, given he was a top 20 pick). I think he'd be much more successful if he used his big frame more, to create space for himself and line-mates. He's a decent skater but notoriously streaky and maddeningly inconsistent. Perhaps a change of scenery would get him to the next level. But people have been saying that now for the last 5 years (only one 20 goal season back in 2009 - again, leaving you scratching your head why he hasn't been more successful)

13 goals , three less that the top goal getter on our first line.

Caps don't play defense. He'd barely crack 10 here.

If you are keeping status quo and going after 24 th this year keep Higggins Booth Richardson DalpheSchroeder.

I was trying to think of rolling four lines.

Edler for Ward and Fehr

Kesler for Pouliot Sutter and the first

Sedin Sedin Ward
Burrows Sutter Kassian
Mathias Horvat Fehr
Sestito Richardson Hansen

Hamhuis Bieksa
Garrison Tanev
Pouliot COrrado

Why not ? If we have a 35 goal first liner do we really care if our third liners are scoring 15?

Ward is 34 in December and Fehr is 29 this summer - Edler is 28. If you want to keep getting older and more irrelevant moving forward, fill your boots.

Give me a name of who do you think Edler will bring back in return?

I don't understand how two guys who will be 34 this year at 7 mil per is better than a guy who is tougher and had more goals than both of them at less that half the cost is worst?

if their contract is ok I can't see two cheaper more productive guys is going to make it worse.

Again who do you think Edler would get in return?

So Daniel Sedin 16 goals 6 mil this year is a better deal than Joel Ward this year 24 goals @ 3 mil?

One has f ours left and one has one year left, please explain how you think Sedin is a better deal?

Both players will be 34 next year.

What? What does that have to do with anything? That's like Toronto saying, "hey we'll sign this guy since he'll be better value than Clarkson!"

That's lame .

I asked how do you explain saying Sedin is a good contract and Ward is a bad contract for the Canucks to take on?

I know all you do is look at current stats, it's bigger than that for me, sorry but it just is. If I'm trading Edler, under the current circumstances, I'm looking beyond next year.

Personally I'd like to trade Edler for a couple of Dallas prospects or a prospect and a pick.

How is it lame? You're saying the same thing using Daniel's contract to justify a non-contending team acquiring a 34 year old winger? Not saying Ward has a bad contract, but he doesn't fit with this team's direction...at all.

This team needs youth with energy, speed and skill. Edler can bring back a solid prospect or younger player, scouts will still look at his past, size and skill and want their GM's to trade for him if available(for a reasonable price).
