I can't believe the Leafs let a coaching decision be made by a HOFer, Cup winner and Olympic champion when they could have simply been guided by the emotions of the most knowledgeable, rationale and clear-headed fanbase in all of organized sports.

One with exactly 3 weeks more hockey management experience than you. This was largely Nonis' decision that BS agreed with by most accounts, anyway.

I watched the game. He's the only reason it got to overtime in the first place. They dind't lose because of him. Different goalie wouldn't have won it any more than he culd have.

I watched the game aswell and agree with your assessment burn.
However, I believe arguing with a fella that watches leaf games in
6 minutes and didn't watch the game in question at all to be pointless.

I hope you're wrong. gardiner hasn't shown any consistency and he's no Karlsson on the offense.

Newly-minted Toronto Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan appears to be cracking the managerial whip early in his tenure with the organization, pushing the pace of the Maple Leafs front office to engage in trade discussions well before the Cup is hoisted in early June.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the Maple Leafs front office has been eager to generate trade chatter and have discussed transactions involving Nazem Kadri, Jake Gardiner, and pending unrestricted free agents Dave Bolland and Nikolai Kulemin.

Shanahan, who was brought in to change the culture of the cap-crunched Maple Leafs, appears set on re-tooling the franchise by dangling the team's young commodities.

Trading young talent for older players who are gritty and have intangibles and leadership is a mistake

Yeah, but it's the first thing I expected after the Carlyle move. Just imagine the dumbest moves we could make and that's probably what the Leafs will do. Just the reality we live with.

Yup. They kept a coach that is admittedly clueless to what happened last year or how to fix it. They got RC players last year and will continue the same pattern this offseason. They are going to do away with kadri and gardiner for more bollands and clarksons. They will continue to play a face puncher despite it being a useless endevor. They will refuse to play youngsters in favor of older less skilled vets.

That's the problem I have with these older coaches. They do a horrible job of bringing the kids along.

There's a few that do wonders with them, Hitchcock for example, but RC has no trust in the kids. Has favourites that just aren't too good out there. Much like Quinn did.

Every game that the Leafs poop the bed, at least we'll have the entertaining post game press conference to make us laff.
