If Briere wants to move up the line-up, he should EARN it. It shouldn't be given to him because in previous years he's been "lights out" in the playoffs. This team was one OT goal from having Boston completely on the ropes, and you're questioning Therrien's use of Danny Briere, who has done little to nothing this post season. |

Flyers played much better with out Briere down the stretch, that alone says a lot. - 77emac77
Because he wasn't playing center, JUST like what's happened to Vinny this year.
This is a constant theme with the Flyers, always stacked at center, and have to move natural centers to the wing who suck there, ex/ Vinny, Briere, etc..
He's not an elite player, we get it. But Briere can still produce offensively if he's used at center and given some ice-time... |

At the expense of Eller whos been lights out? Plekanecs our best two way centre? or Desharnais who is playing a fairly strong two way game against top competition and was one of our better pt getters all season?
Sorry but i dont put Briere in for any of them. |

It seems to me that Boston has a love affair with the top of the net against Price. It is causing them all to try to be too perfect with their shots. Deflections on point shots is how this series will be won. |

I'm not saying bury someone down the lineup, just that Briere should be given a shot based on his impressive playoff performances, shown time and time again NOT to be a fluke. |

They need to play their style which is not pretty Hockey. Nobody has nifty mitts on this team, especially Marchand. Leave the (frank)ing triple dekes back home you little poop!!! |

And don't give me that he hasn't had enough ice time to be effective. Do you know who has around the same ice time as Danny? Dale Weise, who is not a scorer, and who has 2 game winning goals this playoffs. |

You don't have to put Briere in for any of them, necessarily; just rotate Briere in a little bit more, and give them all a bit more rest. Taking one minute each from Eller, Plekanec, and Desharnais, and giving 3 more minutes to Briere would keep the first three a little fresher, give Briere more time to get his legs under him and impact the game, and might give him the chance to spark something, without badly impacting the flow of the game for any of the other three.
Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, but it's at least worth thinking through as a possibility. |

Briere racked up significant minus numbers after the flyers cup run in the playoffs
Briere is a career minus player in the playoffs and actually is too much of a liability in his own end.
The Habs are tied up 2-2 with the NHL best bruins. Everyone that therein is playing is better than Danny boy.
It's dumb to question him on this. He knows what he's doing |

Your right facts are facts...
I dislike Montreal and Therrien as much as the next guy, but they're playing GREAT hockey right now! DESTROYED Tampa and were an OT bounce away from being up 3-1 on Boston. How the f**k is that "beyond bad coaching"? |

Alternate Bournival and Briere on Plekanek's line because Bournival had great chances yesterday but he's keeping his play way too simple to be dangerous, he won't score whith the shots he's taking. - MathSphere
Agree that Bournval lacks the finish but Briere wouldnt have even been in those spots for a scoring chance. Bournival got those chances because of the quick hard forecheck. Briere would have never had those chances if the roles were reversed. |

If anything I think Briere should sit in place of Prust or White. I mean they battle harder on the boards, better in faceoff circle and could easily play those 6-10 minutes a night.
Proof is now in the pudding. Signing Briere was a mistake because he is not a fit for this system. People said to wait and he'd show his value but he just doesn't fit at all on any line. |

ahhhhhh....Therian's nowhere even close to how baffling Capuano is to Isles fans.
The team blew 13 2-goal leads going into 3rd periods during the season while he stood by clueless and commented after every game, "I thawt we played hahd." - jmo16
That's insane actually Why is Capuano coming back then? |

Really...? Are you that ignorant? It was strictly a financial move, as you know, there's something called the Salary-Cap, right? So teams have to manage their assets according to their prices....
Briere is a clutch playoff performer, and possibly the best since 2004, BUT, no team can stomach a cap hit like he had ($6.5 mil), when they are pressed to the cap-ceiling... Got it? - Flyers_V88

I have a good friend from Mtl that I bet a few nice bottles of wine with that he would not regret having Briere on his team. Halfway through the season I argued all the same points that Ek just wrote and refuse to pay up on this bet. Briere has not been given a fair shot at all in Montreal and is nothing more than a complete waste of talent. That coach is an idiot and reminds me of some of the a$$wipe coaches I had to put up with during my playing years. If Mtl loses to Boston it's his fault. |

3rd in division, sweep of tampa, tied with Boston and you think he doesn't know what he's doing? That he is somehow wasting Briere's talent? |

I'll agree with you that $6.5 was the reason they moved him but not because of the cap. It was because his regular season performance isn't worth anywhere near that money. Not even close. |

Brian Gionta kills penalties. And still generates more shots per TOI than Briere. And has the same number of points as Briere, offensive juggernaut. - Sandus
So you're going to compare points when one of the two has 50% or more TOI than the other?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing that Briere is some sort of savior...but the fact remains that the stats show he has been dominant in the playoffs throughout his career and I agree that it is extremely shortsighted of the coach to not at least give him some decent shifts and see what happens, if he has a defensive gaffe Price has been playing strong enough to take care of business at his end. |

Three words - Dale (frank)ing Weise. - Canuckleafer
excellent pick up, great speed...not the most skillful guy, but he isn't that bad either.
