This is starting to remind me of when the Bruins hired Peter Chiarelli from Ottawa. - LeftCoaster

Core Canucks players who will be 30 or older at the start of the 2014-15 season (ages at start of season):
- Daniel Sedin (34)
- Henrik Sedin (34)
- Kevin Bieksa (33)
- Alex Burrows (33)
- Dan Hamhuis (31)
- Chris Higgins (31)
- Ryan Kesler (30)
I'd argue at least 2 of these guys have to be traded this summer. I know who Vantel would pick. - AlexF
All of the above? |

I like Benning.
He built the Sabres, drafting Vanek, Roy, Miller, Kaleta, etc.
And has done a great job in Boston as well. - moondawg

Burrows is a guy you trade at the deadline to serious playoff contenders going all in. He is the kind of guy teams love for his versatility, and he would bring back a solid prospect. |

Kevin Bieksa, well deserved captain of Team Canada. Let's hope this is the 1st and last time he ever plays at the WHC. |

Yeah I'm onboard with that. If Trotz came here I'd lose my marbles.
I did read a few reports yesterday that claimed Blashill was the heir apparent to Babcock. If he's comfortable waiting for his chance with the Wings then he'll stay put. It is a well run organization so I don't blame him.
Desjardins is a name that was brought up by some of the posters here last summer. Seems like an intriguing candidate. Haven't heard his name in the mix yet. - AlexF
The whole Trotz conversation reminds me a lot of the Tortarella conversation last summer. And we all know what a disaster that turned into. |

Hahaha, yeah I know, but he did play in the NHL, unlike most of Gillis's late round picks.
He also drafted Stafford, and Andrei Sekera, Clark McArthur, Jan Hejda, Keith Ballard, Pominville, Gaustad , as well as Dennis Wideman, and Dan Paille.
Pretty decent list for a 6 years of drafting. |

It should be. Considering the Flyers have a pretty good team and the East is pretty weak, Bieksa should expect to be the playoffs for the foreseeable future. |

Only if he's been having a great season up until that point. Another season like this past one and that contract will be an albatross no one will take on. Also keep in mind he has a NTC. |

Although I missed the segment, apparently they were singing some of his praises on the Team 1040 earlier.
It just boggles the mind why people are so insistent on hiring coaches based on how they might play while coaching a different team instead of how they actually have coached for the number of years leading up to this point. |

Like Bieksa, I think his heart is pretty much with the Canucks. I could see him easily waiving for his hometown Habs though. Every French-Canadian wants to wear that jersey. |

There's just so much history with the Habs that I'd imagine many NHLers period would find that organization of interest.
But yeah I agree, that would be the only team I would imagine him not having too much of an issue waiving for. |

It's now a couple of people, and one who knows him, who say they saw Naslund in Vancouver last week. He maintains he was not here.

Since the beginning of the Canucks slide I've been wondering how much of a push would Nonis make for Bieksa. I'm personally not a big fan of the guy, but he is something the Leafs need. I would also think that with Gillis and Burke out of town the two teams may be able to hash out some deals in the future. |

The Canucks working their season ticket holders like crazy.
"This is your last chance..."
"No, this is your last, last chance..."
"No really, this is your very last chance to renew your tickets..."
"Ok, this Friday will be your last chance to renew your tickets. We are serious this time..."
---------------------
Good afternoon Bloated.
I wanted to send an email to thank you for all your support over the years as it is my understanding that you are not renewing your season tickets. It was a challenging year but we are looking forward to the future and to make you proud of the team again.
As you may know, we are starting our season ticket member seat relocation process on Monday, May 12th. I wanted to flag this event with you because it means that your seats will be released to returning season ticket members who wish to change their seat locations.
If there is still a chance for you to reconsider your decision, recognizing that your 10% deposit is refundable prior to Friday, July 11th, please consider making the deposit by Friday to retain your seat locations. The number to call is 604.899.XXXX.
In addition, Trevor and I are hosting four Town Hall meetings for season ticket members prior to July 11th and it would be great if you could join us for one of them. We are looking forward to the personal opportunity to update everyone on the future of the team and to answer as many questions as possible. The dates for the Town Hall meetings are Thursday, May 15th (Surrey), Wednesday, May 21st (Coquitlam), Monday, June 16th (Richmond) and Tuesday, June 17th (Vancouver).
Please call the same number above if you would like to attend. Thanks again for all of your support. We hope to hear from you.
Yours truly.
