Like the move, obviously not surprised. It will certainly be an interesting offseason
- BiggE

The more interesting the better.

They absolutely cannot come back with the same exact forward group, and the same D group minus Kimmo. That would suck IMO.

It's probably going to be a scout. And probably someone within the org.

I'll give you a name: Dave Brown. Let that one soak for awhile.

Yeah... "front office promotions" sounds like everybody's getting a bump up.

We can only hope that it's somebody from outside the org...

Wouldn't it almost have to be? They don't really have too many guys running around whose skillset seems to match that position, do they?

Chris Pryor seems to be pretty entrenched in scouting, right?

Ideally, I would want it to be a lawyer/suit-type who can really help with negotiations, navigating the CBA and making sure all the details are taken care of -- somebody really smart and savvy.

FWI, it's just a guess, but a quick google search reveals that Brownie has the title "Head of Pro Scouting". I'd rather see someone with more amateur scouting credentials.

Maybe Chris Pryor gets bumped up? He's the "Director of Scouting".

I think that's what Barry Hanrahan is supposed to be.

But maybe they don't make the playoffs...it was nip-and-tuck down the stretch there, for a week to 10 days.

MacDonald...he isn't perfect, but he did help solidify Luke Schenn, took some minutes from others. I think it would've been harrowing down the stretch without him...might not have made it, and I do think it was really important that they did make them.

- AllInForFlyers

I think he did help them make the playoffs which counts for something.
For me personally getting knocked out in the first round was the most likely outcome all along, and maybe not making the playoffs would have forced them to make some significant changes this summer.

Maybe they are going to do the changes anyway starting with today's move.

I will wait and see.

If they can somehow move VL and upgrade the team speed, get a viable D man to play with Coburn (other then resigning Kimmo for 5-6M which is ok but the easy way out) then fine.

If they return the same forward group and D minus Kimmo then the offseason will be a fail and maybe not making the playoffs would have been better.

I'd love that, if only to see Hexy spear him in the nuts a few times when he starts blathering on.

If Kimmo wants anything more than 4, the Flyers have to walk away. I would prefer he signs for 2, if he is truly honest about saying its about a cup and not the money.

I do wonder who Hextall would bring in as his replacement as Assistant GM.

Likely, they had teams calling for permission to interview Hextall for their open GM spots.
