Has the question been asked or answered of who is calling the shots, and who has final say? Is this just a change in titles or is it real change?
- MJL

The role of president is a full-time job. Although I would suspect Homer would have more open opinions on hockey moves than Luukko was likely to have had, just based on his background and experience. Considering Hextall would have had plenty of opportunity to be GM of a team without intrusive meddling, I'm doubting he took this on with the idea he isn't the real GM.

Well guys like Edwards, and Steigy those blatant homers are the worst, I think their fan bases like them though.

Jackson is terrible imo. I have to mute the sound with him. Would love Strader to get the Flyers job. He's great.

those guys are definitely worse. i don't think JJ is going anywhere unfortunately. the good thing for me is that i can now choose the other teams feed on directv - you get the choice of both. there will be plenty of games when i choose the other broadcast.

People wont know how much of a good owner he is until he is gone...i dont see any other owner willing to spend as much as he does in order for a chance to win a cup.

You're right about that. I just think there were too many mixed signals leading up to the change for it to be just a move on paper
- funmaster18

I don't think there were any mixed signals that weren't media driven. The team itself has kept the president's role open for nearly 6 months and filled it as soon as the season was over with the GM. That seems like a pretty well-reasoned and considered move to me.

Big time. Although, I didn't mind it so much when John Davidson was there doing the Rangers games.

I can't stand her renditions of the anthems, save for Oh Canada. The split God Bless America presentation needs to be put out of its misery.

i grew up watching rangers games and listening to sam rosen - and honestly i still like listening to him call a game. he was great with esposito back in the mid 80s, and just as good with JD. not a fan of michaletti - so it ruins it some for me.

I must me missing something. I think Jim Jackson is good. He's a homer alright but otherwise does a good game. Steve Coats is an acquired taste though.

I'm serious. On the rare occasion she doesn't sing they boo the substitute. (I'd be happy to take the boos for a chance to do the anthem for the Flyers just once. Much easier than the Phils was I'm sure, considering there's less of a feedback/echo problem in an arena than there was in the Vet.)

I think it's time to retire Kate. Nothing wrong with embracing the past, but 40 years is a long time ago. I'm all for making new traditions.

And also, the Yankees use Kate Smith during the 7th inning stretch. No one wants to be linked with them.

Didn't snider beat aroun the bush about homer coming back as GM and then homer said he wants to be GM? Trying to find the quotes but that sounds mixed to me.

sometimes he gets on my nerves but that's only natural. he's smooth and natural and doesnt subscribe to the "mad-libs" style of commentating.

They apparently have about a 70% winning percentage with it. They showed the record last time she sang it. I hate it. And the in-game production guy had said back in March that it had been retired. He must have been overruled by someone.
