Hextall was also GM of Los Angeles' AHL team for whatever that's worth to anyone
- eayost

The Assistant GM is normally the GM of the AHL team.

this makes me sad for no other reason than we can longer say, GID HOLMGER!

i, for one, am looking forward to this new reign, and i believe hextall will deliver us to the promised land. why? because hextall.

Ideally, I would want it to be a lawyer/suit-type who can really help with negotiations, navigating the CBA and making sure all the details are taken care of -- somebody really smart and savvy.
- Tomahawk

I want a guy who's best at identifying players, both in terms of NHL players and prospects. He can always sorround himself with lawyer/suit types as advisors. It's a sport above all.

Is there any interest in Trotz by anyone here? Where does everyone see him potentially going?

But maybe they don't make the playoffs...it was nip-and-tuck down the stretch there, for a week to 10 days.

MacDonald...he isn't perfect, but he did help solidify Luke Schenn, took some minutes from others. I think it would've been harrowing down the stretch without him...might not have made it, and I do think it was really important that they did make them.

You know what, I completely agree, thinking more about this.

From a team standpoint, seeing how Mason performed as a goalie was absolutely worth it. Getting the young guys playoff experience also is invaluable.

From my selfish personal standpoint, getting to watch how they played in game 6 made it worth it. The rest of the games were frustrating but that one game was glorious.

It's got to be up to Hextall. When a coach is already in place, and a new GM is announced, majority of the time the new GM picks the coach. Not sure if Berube was all Holmgren or not. But it's rare that a coach stays when a new GM is hired. I guess it's a little different in this situation as Hextall was Assistant GM and could have had input in hiring Berube.

I just hope Snider gives Hextall free reign to make all the personnel decisions. Snider is 80+ years old and should have zero input on player personnel. Just sign the checks Ed.

- PLindbergh31

He gave Clarkie free reign for years and I think it might have hurt us in terms of winning the Cup. Snider's biggest fault in my mind was sticking with Clarke and he wasn't 80 back then. I think he'll stay out of the way with Hexy. It's on Hexy not to pull a Bryz if the owner coughs. It's good that Hexy's seen the inside of another organization.

Well if the media did there job at the presser we might have some sort of idea about the coach.

"Ron, With you now the gm will you evaluating the head coaching position or is Berube the man going forward."
