All goals are roof daddy end-to-end rushes... it's obviously black and white. Nobody ever had one go in off the pants, or was on the receiving end of a great pass for a tap, or got credited as the last guy who touched the puck on an own goal.

Good thing, because it would suck to have to throw the entire stat out because it was tainted by "false data", like all those other stats.

Your sieve of a Stanley Cup champion goalie has only played 2 full games of shutout hockey. He's got quite a ways to go the match the immortal Ilya Bryzgalov.

John LeClair, who scored 50+ goals in multiple seasons, scored every single one by deking out the entire opposition, ripping a shot past the goalie, skating super fast the puck to stop it before it crossed the line, took off his pants, defeated communism, deked around the entire team (even the guys on the bench), signed a puck for a kid in a hospital, and fired a lazy one-handed wrister past the goalie from the red line.

That's how REAL goal scorers score goals.

I do not give a poop about Lundqvist. My point was not about a goalie.

I'm saying these numbers aren't irrelevant just because you say so. They are a recorded stat line. Yes they are susceptible to interpretation, but they are far from meaningless.
