I'll keep Laughton. I'm feeling like I need to stick with the youth movement and not add over 30 players like Ehrhoff and Lecavalier.
- mayorofangrytown

I dont like VL and never have.

Ehrhoff is a different story.

The Flyers signed Timonen at around the same point. He's been a top pairing dman for near a decade.

It'll be a hoot when he wins the Cup there.
- PLindbergh31

he's certainly got a lot of pieces. and it think it's good for the league to have a team that's never won the cup before finally win it - in newer markets anyway. vancouver, st. louis, and buffalo.

Instead of bringing Timonen back, how bout Holmgren does something creative and land Niskanen? Hell I would even settle for Anton Stralman. He's be an upgrade. Stralman is better than MacDonald.
- PLindbergh31

Stralman is not a better player then MacDonald is in my opinion.

Minnesota? You kidding... They are cannon fodder for the Hawks. It's going to be a sweep.

Lavi heavily recruited Vinny last offseason.

I hope he does it again this offseason.

That's a small price if they win the cup

You think VL would waive to go to Nashville?

I just think Ehrhoff would be a great calming influence on the kids. I see him as a similar player to Timonen. Having him and Coburn as your top pair will allow the kids to gradually take the reins.

The Flyers have never had trouble finding forwards in the first round. I like Laughton a lot, but his upside is a 2nd line center. I believe the Flyers have 2 future 2nd line centers and 1 top line center.

Ehrhoff would help the team now and later. He would give the Flyers a top pairing which costs $8.5M for the foreseeable future. That ain't bad.

Laughton's played every position this year except for Goalie. I doubt his upside is a second line center.

I like Nashville. They just need a few guys who can put the puck in the net and they are set. Laviolette is going to great situation. No pressure either, the previous coach was there what 15 years and won 2 playoff series.

i would like to see what Trotz could do for the Flyers. I like Berube and want to see him succeed (especially with a training camp), but Trotz always had a competitor when given very little.

He hasn't played terribly, he's been hung out to dry. I don't think anyone will blame any player really. I don't know a single person that thought Minnesota had even a punchers chance in that series.

it's simple - he needs sun. he spent his whole career baking like Vinny Prospal in a tanning bed. He needs it.

I think his upside is a bigger Bard Marchand. That type of player is a very good player. It's not a guarantee he reaches that though.

I thought I heard he wanted to stay in the Eastern Conference.

After this season, he may welcome a small market though.

Because Shero has puddles at his feet from the incompetence dripping off him. Duh.

But seriously.... The Pens have 25 million tied up in Crosby, Malkin, and Letang. Tough to add a fourth player with a cap hit of 7 million, and fill out a balanced roster.

he was put in a terrible situation and game 7 and won it - deserving of credit or not. he hasn't had a large sample size to begin with, and the 2 games agaisnt chicago have been low-scoring, close until the 3rd. he's not giving up bad goals and down 4-0 15 minutes in. i feel badly for him.

Dude, live and let live.

We're all just here to enjoy ourselves, talking about the team from varying perspectives. We don't always have to agree, or come to the same conclusions in the same way.

Not every off-hand/maybe mention of stats analysis needs to be met with the same diatribe over and over again -- you've made your position well known and you don't have to keep repeating yourself.

- Tomahawk

Would that be similar to the same diatribe over and over again, in terms of an opinion of Holmgren as a GM, and the moves he has made? Has that position been made well known, or is that okay to be repeated over and over?

Brings a couple of well know sayings to the forefront.

"Look in the mirror" and "practice what you preach"!

I just hope his presence is good enough to give couts a bit of a break on the hard minutes next year.
