To the Avalanche? Yes.

Coburn was by far our best dman this year and was by far the best at stopping the opponent at the blue line and not allowing zone entry.

This is Vinny Lecavalier. I am sure he can be moved without destroying our team. Worst case scenario is we take on 20-30% salary.

Malone's just as slow-footed as Vinny, and he's coming off a fractured ankle that saw him lose an additional step. Not to even mention the off-ice stuff.

Remember when Kevin Stevens played here as a guy past his prime with a recent drug arrest?

How'd that work out?

If were going to trade Vinny Lecavlier, which I'm on board with if it's the right deal, I think Dallas would be an ideal fit. They have some cap space moving forward and will take an upgrade at center. They also have some strange contracts I could see them getting rid of.

Vinny Lecavlier for Shawn Horcoff (5.5)

or

Vinny Lecavlier for Erik Cole (4.5) and Aaron Rome (1.8)

Horcoff would easily have a role on this team. We take the bigger cap hit and Dallas takes the bigger term. Could also see Erik Cole being in the trade and bringing some speed here; Rome would be a throw in to get the deal done and can be waived.

Another interesting team would be the Florida Panthers, who with new ownership are looking to spend. Going back to Florida would seemingly be an easy sell to Vinny. It'd be intriguing to see if they could work out a deal where we get Brian Campbell at a reduced cap hit for Vinny.

I agree with this. People just should down ideas but offer nothing in return. You can't trade vinny to somewhere he won't go and your not going to trade him for a prime prospect or picks. I like the dallas idea. That is why I brought up vinny to tb for malone. yes malone is not a great player but the trade works. he is a big, body winger. But it is more of an example of the trade that would have to happen.

Can we turn around and peddle Malone to someone else in return for 2014's version of John Slaney?

The only problem with the Dallas thing is that I was pretty sure that Vinny was dead set on staying on the East Coast.

I'm guessing that VL would want to stay in the East, still think Toronto is the best fit for him.

I thought both guys were playing RD out of necessity? (Was Coburn really at RD? I thought Kimmo was?)

Mez was the only LH'er that was more a comfortable on the right side, IRRC.

- Tomahawk

I've read that both Coburn and Streit prefer playing the right side, even though they are lefties.

Best fit in our eyes. Maybe not his. Could Montreal be a fit? Not sure what player could come back. Not sure of money and term but maybe bring back a Travis Moen

I really don't think Tampa would be interested in VL. They are stacked at forward. They can either buyout Malone or just let his contract expire after next season.

i think schenn can get you myers straight up. schenn has noodles of potential as well.

No way. Couturier might, but we shouldn't make that deal.

I guess we can speculate every possible trade combination with Vinny but unless he waives his NMC then there's really no point.

Mmm, you could be right -- I've never heard that before about Coby.

IMO, they need another true RH in the top-4... it would help in so many areas, particularly the D being able to make strong forehand plays on the right wall, easier keeps and not having to go one-handed on the stick when being taken to the outside.

Think the only inducement that would compel Yzerman to make such a bone-headed move would be to take both the Malone AND Ohlund problems off their hands... probably would still have to retain some salary on VL, lol.

If all indications are true, I don't think he will have a problem with it. Hopefully he doesn't try to hamstring the team by limiting his destinations to an impossible number of teams.

Well Toronto offers:
Stay in the East
Chance to play center on a top line
Chance to make $$ doing commercials/endorsements

They badly need a center and if the Flyers are willing to eat 20% of the contract and cap hit, VL at 3.6 mil should be pretty attractive to them.

I'd absolutely love to have Myers on the Flyers. I think the kid is going to be a beast.

No way Buffalo moves him unless the Flyers absolutely lose one of their top 3 best players plus secondary players and picks.

Exactly, I can't imagine he's happy playing 9 mins per night in Berube's system. I'd be shocked if he's NOT looking for a trade
