who would have thought a team gives their young players time
- 2Real

Did they ever give a reason why they kicked Maroon off the Phantoms?

they honestly dont even appear tired. they dominate large portions of possession.

7th. Syvret is only 28 so I'm sure there's still a good chance he plays in the organization a few more times

And both of those players are making a difference this post-season. Very good acquisitions. Of course, they are both auditioning for their next contract, so that's some good secondary motivation.

Vanek on the Flyers could be interesting, an Austrian connection with him and Raffl.

F'n Maroon...

Again, that's super risky business. We literally just signed an older player to a big contract. There was a lot of heat about that because we apparently sign tons of older FAs to giant contracts, and this particular FA had a disappointing season. Would it surprise anyone if we signed Vanek to a gargantuan contract only have have him disappoint? I think we need to acquire a winger through trade and go with youth.

if any team in the east can do it, its the habs. they have speed to burn, and the rivalry thing at least gives them a little edge. im not a huge MTL guy, but i (frank)ing loathe boston.

i dislike the flyers because of the fans. personnel wise, boston is the team i hate the most in this league.

i dont think the pens would have a cakewalk versus MTL, especially with price playing the way he is. but they have a better shot against them than Boston. and at the very least, the series will be wildly entertaining hockey (likely without the goonery that marred the pens/flyers)

i dislike MTL because of the fans.
i dislike Boston because of the players, and the fans.
i dislike the Penguins because of the players.
i dislike the Rangers and Devils because of the fans, the fans, the fans, and the players.

as far as the playoffs go, it's all about match ups. always is.

Part with Lecavalier just cause he's on the downswing of his career, and we have enough right-side powerplay threats with Streit and Voracek. After that, either give a young winger like Akeson or Straka an extended opportunity, or try to prepare a package for someone like Evander Kane, or P.A. Parenteau, who both have speculation surrounding them and could be available. I think it should be a skill/speed player as opposed to a less skilled power forward, though.

Ya I'd imagine getting him would take at least a couple of our best D prospects and a 1st or 2nd.

I guess we'd pretty much have to keep Lecavalier and use him as the second line center if we wanted to get Kane. Parenteau would still be a really good option.

Reaallly fast, has good skills, guaranteed 50+points a year, and a pretty modest cap hit. He'd be a good addition depending on the price.
