I would cry if we acquired David Clarkson

I dont think clarke is tradeable. His cap hit is worse/longer than vinny's. If thats the case id rather keep vinny.

i think schenn can get you myers straight up. schenn has noodles of potential as well.
- PhillaBully

It wouldn't happen. There is too much value placed on a guy like Myers for us to get him straight out for Schenn.

I don't think it's impossible; but good, young defensemen are more valuable than good, young forwards.

I don't think the Leafs can afford to lose his leadership, identity, and truculence. It'll never work.

Ryan malone could be interesting as i think the moneyis close and I am sure Vinny wouldn't midn going back to TB
- J35Bacher

Malone's just as slow-footed as Vinny, and he's coming off a fractured ankle that saw him lose an additional step. Not to even mention the off-ice stuff.

I know the stuff people are saying here. It's like they want to go backwards and destroy this team.

really? they need centers. I think their defense is a area of strength for them. Myers has been up and down himself.
- PhillaBully

We'll the Flyers MUST upgrade the defence without question. I would like Myers too but I think we would have to throw include a Dman back ( Grossman for example) and something else up front

I would be targeting LD, since Coburn and Streit are already entrenched as the top two RD on the team.

Think Ehrhoff, instead of Myers, would be a better fit.

They shot themselves in the foot with the Vinny signing, but what's the point of bringing in a potentially worse problem to get rid of a present one?

If were going to trade Vinny Lecavlier, which I'm on board with if it's the right deal, I think Dallas would be an ideal fit. They have some cap space moving forward and will take an upgrade at center. They also have some strange contracts I could see them getting rid of.

Vinny Lecavlier for Shawn Horcoff (5.5)

or

Vinny Lecavlier for Erik Cole (4.5) and Aaron Rome (1.8)

Horcoff would easily have a role on this team. We take the bigger cap hit and Dallas takes the bigger term. Could also see Erik Cole being in the trade and bringing some speed here; Rome would be a throw in to get the deal done and can be waived.

Another interesting team would be the Florida Panthers, who with new ownership are looking to spend. Going back to Florida would seemingly be an easy sell to Vinny. It'd be intriguing to see if they could work out a deal where we get Brian Campbell at a reduced cap hit for Vinny.

They need RH'ers in the worst way, though, especially if Schenn's going to keep playing like a bottom-pair guy.

What's the answer then? Move Coburn or Streit off of their comfortable RD spot and risk losing some effectiveness in order to bring in a RH shot?

It's not so much getting a worse problem, as... taking all the problem up front next season, rather than over the next four.

...yeah, I'm not buying it either.

If the flyers can get their hands on Myers for that little, you do that any day. Myers is potentially a perennial Norris candidate. The guy has such insane height and reach. I would love to have him on our team when (if?) he figures out his game and becomes the next Chara.

Edited.

This is Vinny Lecavalier. I am sure he can be moved without destroying our team. Worst case scenario is we take on 20-30% salary.

I thought both guys were playing RD out of necessity? (Was Coburn really at RD? I thought Kimmo was?)

Mez was the only LH'er that was more a comfortable on the right side, IRRC.

if schenn doesnt get traded by the draft i expect him to stay and they will try to find vinny a good home. One of schenn or vinny wont be here next year. It makes more sense to keep vinny. in a two years Couts can move to second line and laughton to the third checking line. it makes the most sense to trade schenn. Personally i would do Myers + for schenn. Buffalo would make a good trade partner in that department.
- PhillaBully
