It's a toss up between that series and the 2012 devils series as the most boring playoff hockey I've ever watched.

that series was painful to watch.

How do the flyers get couturier more offensive exposure? Seems like he is stuck on the second line, so is it just a matter of in game match ups? I know I would like to see him on the PP regularly and see if that can get him going.

Wasn't he on the second PP unit most of the season?

ugh. i dont know how strong the hate will be. there comes a point where i cant really fault a player for leaving when the cash is THAT different. like talbot. i never really harbored much ill will towards him. he was a pen through and through. never wanted to leave. but it would have been lunacy for him to turn down what you offered. im sure the same will happen with niskanen. the pens really cant afford to match what you guys (or someone else) can throw out.

Would you rather have Letang or Niskanen long term?

Does anyone else not give a poop about the playoffs after the flyers were eliminated? Usually I'm still into it, but this years borefest with the rags has me turned off this year.

Boston/Montreal has been great. LA certainly has my attention for tonight. Can't watch Pitt/NYR and Chicago/Minnesota is a foregone conclusion.

I'm enjoying the availabilty of all of the series on my cable. Makes me sad because they Flyers have a ways to go compared to some other teams. I have despised the Rangers for 45 years. Always rooted against them regardless who they were playing. Except, if the play the Bruins this year. Don't want Lou Cheech, Lurch and Brick Heck winning another Cup.

There's no reason he can't be productive from the third line. Look at Boston's third line or Chicago, being the "Third Line" isn't holding those guys back at all.

They were wrong to believe Schenn could play wing effectively. I do not like that line Holmgren stated about "centers can play wing" or something to that effect the other day.

It'd be interesting to see if Vl would welcome a trade after what happened to his playing time as a 4th liner and that he came here thinking he'd play under Lavi's system. I agree with many that Florida and Toronto seem like reasonable destinations for him.

If someone in here said that line holmer said it would kick off a 5 page debate of how asinine the comment was

If the Flyers won either series I wouldn't care if I needed adrenaline shots in my eyeballs to stay awake.

that is a tough one. what are we assuming as far as all the variables involved. contract/stroke factor?

shall we evaluate letang having that ghost in the background? i personally dont think it is a HUGE issue, but its at least something to be considered.

and what number should we base for niskanen?

What he said was that he feels it's easier for a Center to adapt to the Wing, then it is for a Winger to move to center. And I agree with him. While it's not absolute, it's generally true.

I hope we can manage something less than 7 years, but that depends on the craziness of the bidding war.

I want Boston to make it to the Eastern conference finals playing Mez in the rest of the games so we get a 2nd rounder instead of a 3rd.

god damn thats a lot. cant say he wont get it though. but jesus. this is a guy who was a virtual salary dump on his way of being out of the league a few years back. see why little reclamation projects are worth throwing darts out there for

i understand it helps playing with crosby and malkin, but to totally write off his production due to that (like a lot of people do) really discredits the growth he himself has made as a player.

but that is a tough one. with niskanen, you have to wonder if he really is worth that money. with letang, you never know what youre going to get. and im not even talking about the flashy plays for and against with letang. just his very nature. some times, he just looks so, so lost. but othertimes, he plays within himself and makes everything look ridiculously easy.

i could see the AAV being a little less, but i cant see him signing for like a 4 or 5 year deal. this is his big shot at a life time deal.

You know I like Niskanen a lot. He isn't just a product of playing with talented players. He's developed into a good player. I would love to pair him with Coburn. I feel those two would really compliment each other. Niskanen makes so many little plays to break up rushes and trigger a breakout.

haha yeah i know you do. but a lot of people think that way about him, and its unfair. whether than means he is a 7 mil a year guy. i dont know. i do know that he would be absolutely perfect for the flyers. perfect enough that it might behoove them to give him that extra mil a year long term anyway. i think people also forget he still is pretty damn young. he wouldnt be like bringing aboard a win now piece like VL or streit. he will grow with your forwards and younger D prospects.

still, on their best days, he simply just is not capable of doing what letang can. outside of doughty and PK subban, i dont know if anyone in the league can. the problem with letang comes when those days become too infrequent.

I wish Homer would stay the hell away from UFA. I know you're fond of the player, but you have to admit that kind of contract carries a huge risk. AMac, Streit and Niskanen pushing $18M+? That's scary.

Yeah. If the Pens weren't the Flyers primary rival, Letang would be a guy I would ask about. With his rough season, rough playoffs, health concerns and large contract, he wouldn't cost an arm and leg like other top pairing guys.

The skill is still there. He's just lost his confidence.
