Hey MiB,

I think you're missing a citation here:

"Babcock may be ready to move on to a new challenge following his nine-year tenure with the Red Wings, according to Helene St. James. The 51-year -old coach has a Stanley Cup and two Olympic victories under his belt and is not looking to sign another deal with the Wings, in spite of good relations with owner Mike Ilitch and GM Ken Holland."

Says who?

- 1979AD

I think it's been reported that he isn't interested in talking about an extension YET. My guess is he signs one next year.

No way the leafs trade kessel. He is our franchise player. JVR is still so young and plays so good with kessel. No way he gets traded either. Kessel JVR Bernier and Rielly are all completely safe
- JVR_42_PK81

And should be the only 4 safe.

Well you have to look into it. What's available at 8? Ehlers Ritchie virtenen. All potential 1st line players. I have herd Florida wants lupul so add him in. I would be sad to see him go though.
- JVR_42_PK81

I wouldn't miss Lupul very much. He's an injury away from starting a fashion design company with Avery.

If I was in charge of the "culture change", they would be the only safe players on this team.

i don't think they'll want #3's contract, but they also want players that can step in and help right now

in other words, jvr and kessel

- Flyfreaky

No way I trade JVR. But I would offer kessel

Something like Kessel,Gardiner,Phaneuf and Kadri

for Barkov (or huberdeau), Gudranson and their 1st

Carlyle does not deserve the chance.

The Leafs are at the bottom of the league in shots against.
Teams that have far worse rosters than the Leafs, like Buffalo, and teams that are considered to be worse defensively on paper, Edmonton, Carolina, etc. all did not give up as many, or even close to as many shots as the Leafs.

This is an indication that there is a problem that goes beyond the players on the ice. It is a fundamental problem of a coaches system, and changing some role players on the ice will not improve this problem.

If a coach's salary does not count against the cap, should we still think that Babcock would be willing to come to Toronto for less money?

My earlier thoughts on this when conversing with Colin was to offer him

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ + $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and a Ranger 621vs fishing boat.
And immortality should he bring Lord Stanley to Toronto.
