Didn't he sign a 4 year deal when they signed him? - pete26
No idea but he's going to have a lot of job offers. Washington might want him, San Jose might want him, Nashville might want him and if all else fails, he can probably go to Florida.
Ron Wilson is throwing his hat back into the coaching game and Iron Mike just won the KHL championship plus all the young coaches out there that nobody knows about yet.
And of course, Guy Boucher. |

Media might hate him, some fans might hate him but by most accounts players love him. Except the soft, female dogy ones.
A place like Florida or Nashville, where nobody gives a (frank), would be a perfect fit for him. To a lesser extent, San Jose.
The Vancouver mess was mostly on Gillis. |

That whole getting suspended thing was him trying to defend his players and while everybody else in the world hates it, those players probably loved him for it.
I'm not convinced he's done just yet. Guess we just disagree on it. He has loose connections to Poile with Team USA in Nashville. |

Not sure most players love him.
But I agree, he was a bad fit in VCR, that's on Gillis for sure. |

I think the Lightning are happy with Cooper but if the Lightning had a goalie, he'd still have a job. |

I get what you're saying, and yet the players really didn't respond. Maybe he didn't have the players |

Depends what type of player you talk to I would imagine. In New York, there were very few who didn't like him as far as I know.
I would blame a lot on Gillis but hiring Torts isn't one of them. I think the owners went over his head to do that. Then Torts went over Gillis' head to push Luongo out the door. And then it all fell apart. |

In New York, he had the players but some of them underachieved, especially in goal scoring during the playoffs. In Vancouver, he had a clash of style with his players. But Vancouver was a lost cause, regardless of who took that team over. Their window of opportunity closed and there's nothing anything can do about it other than get ahead on the rebuilding. Kind of like Calgary after they went to the Finals and lost. Many, many years of denial of what they really were until they finally realized it. |
