Don't act like you don't know the bit...although a fitting punishment for me might be a hangover tomorrow. We'll see how things develop tonight.

I'd be wary if I was him - there are rumors of random sporkings going around.

My point is we didnt receive the stellar goaltending needed in 2 of 3 Emery games to steal a win or even stay competetive. Regardless of how we were outplayed... the goalie has to keep you in it or you lose 90% of the time.
- GOA88

Flyers stole 1 win and earned another....they need to earn 2 others. Goaltending has done the job

first, i've never ever heard of this word "ennui". this annoys me. second, all i can suggest that might help you get fired up is watch some old amazing flyers clips like these to delude yourself into thinking something similar will happen tonight:

As much as I have defended Giroux, he does need to step up tonight.

McDonagh and Giradi aside, tonight he needs to find a way to yet again put them on his back.

- flyer_nutter

he should be double shifted as well.

See "and". "Others".

Although, again. A little disturbing you cant trust your apparent sparkplug and best open ice hitter for one shift against the other teams top guys?

Kind of useless for him to be putting the bruises on Dorsett.

- flyer_nutter

Nothing to do with trust. It's about getting the best matchup. I'm reading far too much focus on players like Rinaldo. If the Flyers are going to win this series, it's not going to be on the back of a player like Rinaldo. He's not the key. The Flyers top players are.

Interesting stat I read that the Rangers have lost 11 straight playoff games when they have had a chance to close out an opponent.. Seems weird to me because I thought they went to the conference finals in 2012 vs the Devils so they must have closed out two previous teams.. Regardless, hope they get it done tonight.

first shift tonight: G comes out like a man possessed and steamrolls zuccarello into semi-consciousness; takes a sweet feed from jake crossing the blueline, cuts toward the slot, beats lundqvist clean but rings it off the crossbar so hard it hits the now-recovered "zucc" in stride as he goes in and scores on the breakaway

That's why you ask the average fan and they have little confidence in this team right now. You can try and fluff the flyers performance with corsi stats and zone time, etc. they look horrible against the rangers and are playing with no confidence Bc of the effectiveness of the rangers
- Just5

Numbers were never in the Flyers' favor, so hard for anybody to use them to fluff their chances.

Rangers were one of the top ES teams in the regular season, according to fancy stats. To have any shot at losing, they'd have to spend a good fraction of the series on the PK and uncharacteristically play like poop at ES. Neither has really happened.

Flyers are really lucky to have 2 wins so far on the backs of their goaltenders. Mason had better be ready to channel some Jonathan Quick if they hope to have any chance at all, because the team overall just doesn't measure up.

I think they're 0-11 in games where a win will put them up by 2 games. The streak goes to 12 tonight!

First the negative:

The Rangers will try and close a series in fewer than seven games, which they haven't done since 2008.

In fact, they have lost an NHL-record 11 straight games when leading a playoff series, including games 2 and 4 this year.

Let's look a little deeper at a fancy stat that supposedly says that the Rangers are better then the Flyers at 5 on 5 play based on the season numbers.

Ranger had 3,854 in CF and 3,501 in CA for the season.

Break that down per game, and it's an average of 47 CF and 42.6 CA per game

Broken down even further per period. It's on average 15.6 CF and 14.2 CA against per period.

Now let's look at the Flyers. They had 3,512 CF and 3,516 CA.

Per game it's 42.8 CF and 42.8 CA

Per period it's 14.2 CF and 14.2 CF.

There's a 1.4 shot for difference per period between the two teams in looking at Corsi. Can anyone honestly say that gives the Rangers a big edge?

I say hogwash! And also say hogwash to the only way the Flyers can win is if Rangers play uncharacteristically poor at ES. The Flyers can have a large say at what happens at ES. Because the difference in "fancy stats" between the two is minute. And doesn't mean squat in my opinion.

The fancy stats number that is not in the Flyers favor comes down to less then 2 attempted shots per period.
