Why worry until there's something to be worried about is my philosophy. There's far too much time between now and training camp for house that Johnny Canuck built to be remodeled.

Agreed. I wouldn't get too stressed out about anything until a new GM is named, clearly Linden wants someone who's still an assistant of a team in the playoffs right now(Bennings seems lie the most speculated choice, especially after Linden met with Neely in-person).

The longer he is not fired the more it looks like he is staying which would be a disaster. I know where your coming from but I still think they should fire the coaching staff before the new GM is hired so that the new guy can bring in his own people. Kind of a sh*t thing to do is hire someone new so that they can fire the guy that nobody wants moving forward.

Can you imagine Luongo's reaction if Torts gets hired in Florida!!!!

Potentially, yes.

Hopefully Montreal can upset them, but the Bruins look like the beasts of the East right now. Pens look mentally fragile to me. Only an extremely hot goalie will beat them IMO.

I know some of you really hate Torts as well, but he's a decent guy off the ice and it's kind of sh*tty to just leave him hanging if the Bruins go far(assuming Benning is the guy).

If Torts is still hanging around by mid-May, I gotta wonder if maybe Benning(again, assuming) or whoever has already had conversations with Linden about giving Torts another year.

Hate the Habs!!!! A guy who works next to me is one of those loud mouth Habs fans and he barely knows where Montreal is!

It will most likely be the Bruins and Blackhawks again.

Got to what's best for the team. If Torts is fired he is still making a salary. If Canucks fire him and the person they want falls through then they are left there holding the bag.

Rangers or Habs have the defense/goaltending to potentially do it. Vanek actually has very good career numbers against the Bruins, that pickup looks great for them.

I'm just watching as a fan, but out of the teams left I'd say the Kings/Hawks/Bruins would be the top 3 I dislike.

Bruins going out would help the Canucks big time if Benning is Linden's guy, gives him more time to make decisions. Although it's probably a better idea for him to be spending more time picking the brains of Bruins scouts instead of Canucks scouts.

I wouldn't rule out the Kings(if they get past SJ), it's either them or the Hawks IMO. ANA's defense and goaltending is still shaky.

Sad to say but whomever gets to play the Bruins in game one should Bobby Clarke Chara's ankle and even up the chances.

After the sh!t he made us "watch" this past season, I'd be cool if they had a new GM and coach already signed and under contract but decided to wait until August to inform Torts he'd been let go. Not really but you know what I mean.

I don't see it that way at this point. If we had a GM already signed and in Vancouver then yes, I'd agree with that.

I think Torts will be given another year with the new GM. Here is why.
Any new GM coming in will see 3 areas of deffinate improvement.

1. Coaching style does not match the team
2. Team is getting old and too many NTC
3. Cupboards are bare

To fix 2 and 3 we need Torts here. There are too many underachieving players on this team with NTC that would rather fossilize here then move to another team, however Torts is a good way to ensure some of these guys would rather uproot and replant in another market. This is the only sure fire way to move some of the NTC. KB will get a roster player and a pick. Hammer will get us a roster player, prospect and a pick. Edler will get us a pick or a roster player, Burrows will get us a roster player, Kesler will get us a roster player, prospect ad pick.

Requirements 2 and 3 will be met by moving some of the NTC out and the coach to convince players that they would rather play in Peg or Edm then Vancouver is Torts. Sorry Marwood but I don't see Torts moving this year.
