Wild finish - VANTEL
Maybe it's just me, but how can there be any question as to who is going to be in net for San Jose in game 7? To me it's a no brainer, and you go with the guy who not only got you there, but is a Stanley Cup winner with extensive experience in high pressure games.
Edit: you have to feel a bit sorry for San Jose |

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
By my (very unofficial) count, Williams now has 13 points (9 goals) in 12 career games where his team could be eliminated.
Mr playoffs. David Kreiji is another one of those guys that post modest numbers in the first 82 games but look like superstars in the postseason. |

There are definitely players who simply excel in the play-offs and when the games really count. The guys you mention as well as players like Doughty, Lucic, Bergeron, Briere, Franzen, Holmstrom, Bolland, C Lemieux ). Just something about the post-season that brings their level of play up another notch (although it seems like last year's phenom - Bickell was a one-off based on this year's play-offs so far).
Edit: of course I would be remiss in not including T Linden in that group |

Yeah, you definitely need at least a couple of guys who step up offensively in big games.
Bickell was pretty noticeable physically, he creates space for the skill guys when called upon. But yeah, he was a great luxury when Chicago had him at a bargain rate of like 1 million or less for years. He was like their 12th/13th forward when they used to beat us, those teams were (frank)ing stacked, at least by salary cap standards(Canucks and Hawks).
(frank), I wish we had Bowman as our senior advisor.
Bowman does like Lack though. |

Absolutely, it's just mind-boggling how many supporting pieces that team had - Versteeg, Bolland, Brouwer, Campbell, Colin Fraser, Andrew Ladd, Byfuglien, , Kopecky, Madden..... yikes, talk about deep, that's just insane |

No kidding. Ladd-Bolland-Versteeg was a great 3rd line. Fraser doesn't belong though.
Canucks weren't bad either. Back in 08/09 when healthy we had something like:
Daniel - Henrik - Burrows
Demitra - Sundin - Kesler
Raymond - Wellwood - Hansen
Pyatt - R.Johnson - Bernier
Edler - Salo
Mitchell - Bieksa
Ohlund - O'Brien
And 09/10:
Daniel - Henrik - Burrows
Raymond - Kesler - Grabner
Demitra - Wellwood - Samuelsson
Glass - Johnson - Bernier
Edler- Ehrhoff
Mitchell - Bieksa
O'Brien - Salo
10/11:
Daniel - Henrik - Burrows
Raymond - Kesler - Samuelsson
Torres - Malhotra - Hansen
Higgins - Lappy - Glass
Edler- Ehrhoff
Hamhuis - Bieksa
Ballard - Salo
Luongo
Schneider
Not sure what the lines were(those teams were rarely fully healthy during the playoffs). |

Samuelson, Malhotra, Torres, Ehrhoff, and even Salo to an extent were all players that provided things we've never been able to replace. |

"The one thing Hodgson has surely proven is that he has great offensive skill. He knows how to score and he knows how to set people up."
Can't imagine what team we know that might have benefited from these unique skillsets. |

Maybe Vancouver should Draft Claude Lemieux's son in the second round. Apparently he plays just like his dad.
Plus Ekblad said he would absolutely hate to play against him, but loved having him on his team. |

I will be thoroughly disgusted if they keep him on. It will make the Trevor as president signing just a pathetic PR move to stem the spiral into years of insignificance. |

I think he will leave the coach up to the GM. There will be a house cleaning no doubt. MG's first mistake when he became GM was keeping AV. AV did a good job in his tenure but if a GM comes in and doesn't bring in his own choice as coach it sets a bad president. Unless the coach you want is unavailable. I can only think of a few current NHL head coaches I would want. |

Starting to get quite worried. Believing less and less that things are going to change for the better anytime soon. Fire Torts and let the new GM start with a clean slate.
At least Keenan was decisive!! |

Why worry until there's something to be worried about is my philosophy. There's far too much time between now and training camp for house that Johnny Canuck built to be remodeled. |
