17. Philadelphia Flyers
Julius Honka
Ht/Wt: 5’10″/178 lbs
Position:D
Team: Swift Current (WHL)

Honka is perhaps the most dynamic puck-moving defensemen in this draft class. Flyers hope they land heir apparent to Kimmo Timonen.

If we draft him, he reaches the NHL level, and people start doing this at games, it's gonna be reeeaal annoying.

48. Philadelphia Flyers – Hunter Smith, RW, Oshawa (OHL)

6-6 power-winger, already 210 pounds, biggest ranking jump of anyone on the Central Scouting list. That is a pick I could live with.

Keep in mind anyone drafted that late will most likely take a really long time to develop in our system.

Giroux is 26. In 3 years he'll be on his way out of his prime and on the down side of his career.

A lot of the picks we are taking now probably won't be on a team with the players we have now.

I mean... that's not really relevant. Plus, I don't think we really know where he'll be at age 29. If he can still perform at a 60-70 point level into his 30s, I don't see any issue. That's still a first liner who will hopefully by then have further developed a solid defensive game. Other players will have stepped up to fill that offensive gap by then, as well.

At 8.25m a year we won't be saying that then.

We need to get him wingers TODAY. This drafting crap is going to cut it.

jakes a damn good winger. but part of me wonders if he would be better on his own line. both him and giroux excel with the puck on their sticks.

hartnell KILLS giroux.

Hartnell kills everyone when he tries to play a skill game. He's a hard nose guy. No idea what the hell he thinks he's doing anymore.

I'm about to call my girls on his ass.

I'd trade the 1st and a roster player if it got me into position to take Ehlers -- kid can flat out play.

If the Sharks blow this series, you have to figure changes are coming.

lordy. mind calling them on me next?

but yeah. he really doesnt offer much. every now and then he gets in position for a one timer at the dot and everyones like WOOOOO THERE HE IS. to me, hes just a black hole regarding driving possession. he is too slow, and drags giroux down when he gets speed through the neutral zone. people get angry that he stops and circles so much, but its usually because hes waiting the 2 second delay it takes for scotty to get in the zone. then once hes there, he doesnt really bang in the corners or crash the net anymore. if hes not doing that, hes not doing anything. hes just kind of there. an anchor on the first line.
