Here is something interesting that I have been tracking for sometime now. All players that have played in FLA for min 1 season and then traded to a contending team in either TDL or Draft have not panned out. The only team that is still in the playoffs right now that has an ex Panther from last year is Mtl and that is because TB lost it starting goalie before the series even started. All the more reason why I an happy GMMG is gone. No More Florida trades! Please! While we are at it. Players that were part of bottom struggling teams for a long time don't make any major impact in the playoffs. Looks at Miller, Moulson, Vanek, Goc, Legwand, all of the Edm trades. Winning environment breeds winners. We really need to get back on track or Canucks will become the new oilers.

Some very interesting points there. Nice work and you are correct, no more reclamation projects or rejects from weak teams.

Build from within through drafting and free agency. Only Bourque and Hossa come to mind as players who helped take a team to the promised land.

Horton, Bouwmeester(edit: He walked as well), Hagman, Spacek, Niedermayer( though i think he walked?)

But ya, that's pretty true considering Horton is the only one that actually had a positive impact in a eventual cup run.

Yet Dale Talon still continues to get top $$$ for his trades. For every Horton there is 20 Ballards and Booths.

Hope you had a good weekend.

I'm musing on rental players, new GMs and stealing from St. Louis in today's blog:
