In Wisconsin, Republicans led by Scott Walker has done an amazing job of destroying public unions and handing all power over the workplace back to business interests. Now, with little fanfare, they want to take away the right for workers to have a single day off.

Wisconsin state legislators are preparing to vote on a budget, and a controversial package of modifications has already passed the finance committee and will soon be up for a vote by the legislature. This new package of provisions has already drawn criticism for its inclusion of measures that would decimate the state’s open records laws, protect state politicians from media scrutiny, and gut the Wisconsin definition of “living wage.” But one additional measure is worth gaping at, perhaps above all others: section 56, which would take away workers’ right to a weekend—even a one day weekend.

56. One Day of Rest in Seven. Include the provisions of 2015 AB 118 to permit an employee to state in writing that he or she voluntarily chooses to work without one day of rest in seven. Specify the provision first apply to union contracts on the day the collective bargaining agreement expires, or is extended, modified, or renewed, whichever comes first. [Currently every factory or mercantile employer must allow each employee 24 hours of rest in every consecutive seven days, except for certain emergency circumstances. The requirement does not apply to janitors, security staff, bakeries, restaurants, hotels and certain dairy or agricultural plants]

When the End of Human Civilization Is Your Day Job

What do Public Unions have to do with Private Business?

Also when Public Unions Strike, do their competitors benefit with an increase in customer?

Does not address my query.

Public service Unions AKA Government workers, work for, and are paid by taxpayers, they do NOT have any competition in their field of work.

Therefore if they go on strike, their customers, the taxpayer, suffer as there is no other way to get that service.

If Ford workers (Private sector Union) go out on strike, customers have Fords competitors to go to, if they are in the market to purchase or service a vehicle.

So when government workers go out on strike, who in private business benefits, as you seem to be implying as much?

A Short History of Conservatives and Liberals

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:

1. Liberals
2. Conservatives.

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That’s how villages were formed.

I didn't read the article... Already know the story.

Liberals dragged humanity forward while conservatives shouted how leaving caves was an affront to God. Same way they do with every bit of social progress.

The Chinese Defence Ministry this week confirmed the fourth test of a hypersonic nuclear delivery vehicle.

The US called it an “extreme manoeuvre,” amid rising tensions between the two powers in the South China Sea.

China tested the missile just days before the Central Military Commission vice-chairman Fan Changlong left for the U.S. on a week-long visit.

Military observers told the South China Morning Post that the missile test reinforced China's nuclear deterrent in response to the United States' interference in South China Sea disputes.

The advanced strategic strike weapon travels at speed of up to 10 times the speed of sound, or more than 7,600 miles per hour.

In its 2014 report, a congressional China commission stated: "Hypersonic glide vehicles could render existing US missile defence systems less effective and potentially obsolete."

Designed to be less susceptible to anti-ballistic missile countermeasures than legacy re-entry vehicles, the WU-14 is likely to be fitted to various Chinese ballistic missiles.

If countries decide to get involved in a nuclear war, delivery methods aren't going to matter- we're all (frank)ed anyways.

China doesn't have an answer for the Ohio-class subs.
