Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: Torts Shouts Grow Louder, Lack No Longer Going to Worlds
The ticking of the clock on John Tortorella's tenure as Canucks' head coach grows louder, as Eddie Lack bows out of participating in the World Championships. - Carol Schram
This is not indecision. There is no obligation to Torts to notify him about his future. His obligation is to do his job as long as he's employed.
Linden is on the road and is currently in Detroit. He has been meeting with other team execs and you have to think that it includes Holland who is close to Trevor and maybe behind the scenes with Benning if Boston gave their permission quietly. Draper might be in the mix as well since those two have played together in the past for Canada.
Torts will be fired but why not get the most out of him when there's nothing on the line. As an employer, even if they tell him he's gone, they can put him on notice where he has to stay for a certain time period or he loses his severance.
The media has to write something to sell papers, subscriptions and to keep their jobs. The Sun will have the story about Linden's road trip tomorrow. Take the reports with a grain of salt.
The worlds are in Belarus so I'm glad Kes isn't going. Lack is in Vancouver for training. He's not hurt. |

I hope so! He's almost 34 years old though...
I think B. Schenn and a 1st would be a king's ransom for KB3 - Jim_Robson
I heard Schenn was not meeting expectations over on Broadstreet. |

Bieksa has always been the laziest top 4 Dman on the roster. Also for years he would beat guys up over little personal things out on the ice but not pound someone for cheap shots or intended injuries on team mates. He's also the guy making injury excuses at the end of the season for his playoff suckage but continuing to play in the World Championships instead of treatment and rehab (like last season).
I wouldnt go as far as to say keep him away from our young players but the crap you are saying is comical. Bieksa is not a good leader. Look at him in our big playoff run while in leads,,, he's making fun of the oppositions players through the media like he's on Johnny Carson. He did it every single round and couldnt shut up about players hair cuts and poop. Thats not how your veteran leaders should act possibly supplying the enemy with motivation or support for their team mates.... let the opponents keep them selves down..... it was clearly all about Bieksa when ever a camera or mic happened to be around. - boonerbuck
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way |

The Pens should have traded Malkin and Pouliot for Kesler and Luongo and they probably wouldn't be getting knocked out in the 1st round by Coulmbus. - fiveandagame
That is an interesting topic. I said last year Pitts needed LU but we all know how that went down.
Fluery would be a decent back up for (salary dump ) for Lack. he is a decent regular season goalie. We won't make the playoffs with this roster so why not take his one year salary and give back Booth in return. I heard them talking about this on the Sekeres 1040 today. IMO it is a good idea? Being it is a contract year for Fluery and we don't have to worry about him choking in the playoffs , I think this would be a good swap |

My friend, you can expect Virtanen or Ritchie....I'm calling it now......and I know everyone has a hard on for Ehlers, but Nylander is our boy....... - chompsey
if bennet and reinhart are gone, I wouldn't be surprised if Virtanen goes to calgary.
a sorely needed RH shot. I think that will outweigh dalcolle.

One thing I don't want to do next year is improve slightly. Piss or get off the pot. Drafting between 10 and 20 th will slow us down to a glacial flow( Thanks Tony G)
I still don't understand the comments about if we trade all our core we will be horrible?
It is pretty damn hard to be worst than this year. Thruthfully how much farther can we be than 25 th . Say it again so you don't forget , TwentyFifth.
The sooner we get youth and get rid of the old tugboats the better we will be.
I don't mean bringing in Horvat or any of the kids this year , let them go to the AHL for a year or two.
We will get young by trading core for nearly ready prospects Lkke Niño N or Bonino.

No. We want a shot at McDavid or Eichel or Hanifil. All will be special franchise type guys.
I'd rather keep Booth or buy him out and sign a solid 4th liner who we try to masquerade as a 2nd liner for the year. The fans are ready for a tank and seeing young kids. Linden will deliver. |

It was good enough to make Team Canada...I feel sorry for him almost as much as I do for myself for having to watch that garbage since late December.
Maybe he'll light it up over there and become a hot commodity! |

I would not be surprised if Torts was given one more year, but I would not be surprised if he was fired tomorrow .
I don't think FA wants to buy him out |

Linden looks to be doing his homework, God I hope he does this right. He looks to already have a better rapport with other teams executives.
Was reading some articles on change; Kesler, Higgins, Hansen & Edler need new homes. |

All signs point to him being let go, I can't see them keeping him after the disaster of a second half and for some of his idiocy this year. |

Personally I'm tired of the clown shown, like to see a semblance of professionalism from management after the (frank)-show we've seen over the past few years. |
