The part that gives the Wild the big win is they got Coyle + a 1st also
That's too much for Burns
Sj got desperate
Imagine how good theyd be If they actually got a player that could contribute instead of havlat?
Or just hung on to Coyle?
Might be the difference between them finally winning the Cup...
Or falling short...
Again - jdfitz77
At the time Burns was a top d-man.
Just a thought. |

On board for another train wreck season just to get invited to the lottery again ? Not ! Ths team better be at least a few spots and wins better then we were .I wont pay or watch a team that wont compete night after night.I don't see the Sabres being the Bills part 2 tho. |

Then dont, but dont come back in 2 years when they have top end talent, complaining about how you dont have tickets. |

Was there really another Callahan debate here last night? Jeeze. This is crazy. How does this happen yet again? For all the intangibles and glue factor the fact is he has never scored more than 60 pts in a season. He is a good player but not someone you build a team around. Btw for all of the blocked shots, hits, etc he is a career plus 2! St Louis is a career plus 25. What does that tell me? While I am not saying St. Louis is a known strong defensive player his scoring makes up more than enough for his so so defensive play, and Callahan doesn't score enough compared to his strong defensive glue factor play. |

71gp 40pts (on avg) is what you'll get for the 7yrs @ 6-7 mil.
When this team is ready to compete in 3-4 years, more than likely those totals will drop do to the way he plays. I'm not sure why people think he's an option? That said they are entitled to have that opinion, I just don't share it. |

He would have been someone I would have wanted to add to the 2006 Sabres team, not a 2014 rebuilding Sabres team |

Ekblad falls to 4 IMO
Reinhart- FLA
Bennett - Buf
Draisaitl EDM
Ekblad CGY - sbroads24

Buffalo, blue collar, lunch pail.
This is a city that fell in love with Steve Ott.... and Steve Ott is a terrible hockey player. - theblueandgold
He's a great 3rd Line guy. Great locker room guy. No way should he be a Team Captain, but when you're team is filled with young and 3rd/4th line talent, he's your Captain. I'll be interested to see who Nolan makes Captain this season. |

I wouldn't say "no way" he goes past 2, but I think if Florida takes Reinhart, Buffalo is going to take him. Should Florida take Bennett, however, Buffalo would take Reinhart, and Ekblad would most likely go #3 to Edmonton. I highly doubt anyone takes Draisaitl over Ekblad. Draisaitl isn't considered a "can't miss" prospect in a lot of circles, and he's European. Make no mistake, there's still a largely Canadian bias in the NHL "good old boys" circles. That's not to say Europeans aren't being selected, but if it's a tie between a Canadian and a European, most executives will go with the Canadian. Unless Edmonton is desperate for a forward (which they're really not), the chances of Ekblad falling past 3 are very low. |

I wouldn't put it past them. They are thinner down the middle than they are on the back end. Don't be surprised if the Sam's go one and two that Edmonton either trades back or just straight up takes Draisaitl. |

If Edmonton takes Draisaitl with Ekblad still on the board, they're going to have a PR nightmare similar to when the Miami Dolphins selected Ted Ginn while Brady Quinn was still on the board. Granted, in that case, neither pick turned out to be the right one. Draisaitl, to me, sounds like the one highly touted pick that simply disappears in four or five years. |

but they are competing.. they just don't have the talent. i don't mind watching as much when they try. October games versus March games was a huge difference. |

if we can get him for 2-3 years then i would do it. he could bring some leadership... but to give him that kind of a contract you are looking at one of the worst contracts given |

Why does everyone think Edmonton needs Ekblad? Many people would argue they need a number 2 center more so than they need another young D since they have a decent stock of young D.
If any team really needs a young D its Florida. |
