I was just looking at the past number 6 overall picks to see if the successful choices were generally smaller players or bigger ones...

2011 Mika Zibanejad
2010 Brett Connolly
2009 Oliver Ekman-Larsson
2008 Nikita Filatov
2007 Sam Gagner
2006 Derick Brassard
2005 Gilbert Brule
2004 Al Montoya
2003 Milan Michalek
2002 Scott Upshall
2001 Mikko Koivu
2000 Scott Hartnell
1999 Brian Finley
1998 Rico Fata
1997 Daniel Tkaczuk
1996 Boyd Devereaux

Holy shoight, for the most part that is quite the impressive group (in particular the last 10 years or so). Hopefully that is a good omen when Canucks draft at that position.

1st Round, Number 6 selection....hmmmmm

Edit: Vantel and his Fillipina entourage have obviously been at it again - squirrel, chicken, and chipmunk sacrifices during full moon in order to sway the hockey Gods our way (incidentally, while you're at it ,perhaps you could also include Healy and Stock as well )

Raf has more skill in his pinky than Cooke has in his whole body.... NEXT.
- rugdnit

I think Cooke would have helped us against the Bruins in 2011. Maybe even turned the tide.

Ok, let's not get too carried away ; however, you are right, in that I do believe Cooke would have been a positive element in that series

... and don't forget Ron McLean and Pierre McGuire. (Is it even kosher to type those names here?)

Getting Kevin Dineen as head coach of the Vancouver Canucks would be a moral victory.

Beauty goal.

The Blues are pounding on Keith tonight. Something the Canucks should have done 2 years ago.

He certainly would have had no problem doing his thing, but Campbell would have found a way to suspend him for the rest of the playoffs on a marginal call. Bet on it.

I bet there was even conversations on how to suspend Sedin for diving when Marchand was speed bagging him.

I don't get why he gets so much love. He sucked in Florida, he coached the women's hockey team to a gold, but that a 2 team tournament so his odds were pretty good.

Because, even though he made millions off of them, Mike Gillis hates Russians.

If only we traded Kesler for seguin, and drafted Nichuskin... We'd be set.

If only. We can laugh at hindsight but that was a very real possibility that Boston would no doubt have taken a hard look at.

For sure, but I think they preferred a winger(and we all know how Kesler feels about that, but maybe Boston didn't ).

I sure love watching that guy play... and I sure hope we try converting his little brother to wing ASAP.

Not a bad idea considering how P.K went against better judgement and moved from goalie to D, while Malcom did the complete opposite when they were young, as the story goes.

Is anyone really surprised by the officiating? Gary Bettman has always favored Canadian teams. Hates the sunbelt franchises. Always has.

This guy is such a whiner.. Tampa won the FuK*ing cup with bias officiating against a Canadian team. Anyone who says Betman is bias for Canadian teams, a Canadian team hasn't won since Bettmans 1st year in charge 22 years ago. Thats 0-5 Canadian teams in the final since '94. Yeah he hates the sunbelt, thats why he does everything possible to prop them up.
