I understand that losing = no heart to most fans. I dont really buy into that crap.
Its not something you can even say is a thing. What is heart? slamming your stick when you miss a shot? Defending the water bottle? Seabrook taking out Backes?
I just read a good article breaking down the system the leafs play.. every player on the team does the same thing.. this to me doesnt scream the Team has no heart. they are doing what they are told. It doesnt work. Well it does sometimes when you get hot shooting from Phil and .970 from Bernier. then Phil and Bernier have heart I guess that game. - senstroll
talking about fighting through checks to get to scoring areas, taking a hit to clear the zone, forechecking. |

RC doesn't even have them doing this! Dump in the puck and then everybody go and change so that the other team can pick up the puck, stand waiting for their own change, and get back to centre ice without so much as a (frank)ing breath on their neck from anybody in blue and white... |

i think commitment to defence is a big one, bigger than all those things you mention. the things you mention are all acts that are intended to create offence. i think real heart is committing to defence as well, even though there isn't much glory in it. guys like Kessel and JVR love to score. it's their commitment to defence that needs to improve. |

Agreed. Kessel definitely had some flashes of it last year, but it needs to be more consistent. Maybe come up with a new system where he gets a cookie for every backcheck, he'll be there in no time (plus the backchecking will help to work off the cookie)! |

Not the biggest question the Leafs need to answer but maybe the easiest.
Who replaces Reimer after he is traded?
All UFA's below. Giguere anyone? Would love Elliott but he holds out for a starting job I think and likely too expensive.

Leafs need someone cheap who can step in and play 25-30 games, because you have a smallish starting goalie who sees a ton a of rubber and is likely to battle injuries. but someone who also understands and accepts the backup role. Emery would be the perfect fit IMO.
