It was pretty well documented that AV largely stopped coaching past a certain point. "The players are veterans and know what they need to do."

The only strategy he employed during that SCF run was the same strategy he'd been employing for the several years leading up to that year. Coaches like Quenville would adopt a new strategy purpose built for the opposition, including the Canucks.

Case in point, Todd McLellan changed up his lines against LA tonight after falling 0-2 and put Pavelski on the third line. That line ended up with 2 goals.

I'm not sure what he's doing with the Rangers but in Van AV just rolled out the same team in the same way night after night, regardless of the results.

Agreed, any instance that involved real coaching.. he failed. He was unable or unwilling to adapt.. and this ultimately bit us in the ass.

He is from Calgary they do have a lot of herds out there.

Should Pittsburg be looking at trading Malkin in this off season? Pitt has been declining and I can see in two years them falling out of the playoffs , like us. They have some serious holes on the team starting in goals and moving up to D.

If he has another quiet year or two Malkin will be an anchor. I don't want his contract on the Canucks but I am sure some team would pick him up seeing he is still considered elite.

If Pens did move him and picked up Kesler and tried to sign Iggy in the offseason, they could have two pretty good top lines with their forward group.

Canucks should trade for Matty Duchene!!
