There's no (frank)ing excuse to spear someone. There are plenty of excuses for hitting someone. IMO they should punish dirty non-hockey violence WAY harsher than unfortunate results from a hockey play. I've been pissed off enough to drop the gloves plenty of times, but I only had 2 anger blackouts where I lost my mind & left someone in a bloody pile on the ice. Both times I was retaliating to a spear. I'll take your best hit any day... Try to knock me over. But if you come at me with stickwork, you'll require postgame dental work and/or plastic surgery. - DrChristianTroy
I agree a spear is a much worse act by the player doing it compared to a hit to the head but suspensions come from the department of player safety .... Which are far more concerned with a potential concussion than a shot the the balls ... I'd rather them let the players police themselves ... You won't see as many shots to the head or to the balls if you have to answer for your dirty work |

I don't find Seabrook's hit on Backes dirty. It may be a penalty, but it's not (frank)ing dirty. If that gets a suspension while a spear to the junk gets a pocket-change fine, ugh... - DrChristianTroy
In the 90's that hit was a beauty ... Now it's a suspension ... Whether we like it or not this is what the players wanted |

the wings got lucky, that was a situation where Dekeyser wanted to play close to home.
if he had grown up near vancouver he would of went there - Jurco_28
Canucks got lucky with Tanev and Burrows. It happens. Wings aren't successful because of DD. His stats and usefulness, while good, is similar to Tanev.
Wings depth is due to their drafting and player development, the way to treat players and not bc it's a FA mecca. |

To shut down who? Jackman?
I think their interest in Kes was offensively motivated to play with Kane. Subtract Teru, who isn't playing anyway, and a leddy, shaw or saad and you have the start of a deal otherwise you don't trade him to the west. Yes, it's an overpayment by Chi but if you want a trade within the conf., that's the price you'll pay biaaaatches. - therealagent
I don't see the hawks giving that much for kesler ... someone might give up a first and a good prospect along with a young player but doubtful it's the hawks |

Exactly.
If Scott Stevens played today, he'd be kicked out of the league. And if Torres played 15 yrs ago he would be a hall of famer.
I'm waiting to here hawks fans reactions to this Seabrook hit. After belly aching about Torres or Hossa, this is very similar. |

If JJ I correct about the heartbeat of the hawks which he mostly is. Kane wants Kesler |

I don't think there's much of a defense on the hit ... Shoulder to head ... Pretty clear |

While I agree, its not like there's any consistancy to the the suspensions handed out |

I don't doubt that 29 other teams would want kesler but at what price ... When you start asking for a first a top producer and another young established player ? You go from 29 to about maybe half dozen if that |

Maybe in the amount of games but pretty much every clear hit to the head gets something |

As with the deadline I doubt the canucks will negotiate with teams he's unwilling to go to. Personally if a 1st and decent prospect is all they can get I think the canucks would be foolish to deal him |

Depending on where the first is or who the prospect is I'd say they would be foolish to not deal him ... His value isn't going to go up ... You keep him if you think he can help you win a cup ... if he wants out than you only have a limited time with him to help you win |

As I said decent prospect. A top 15 pick and a bluechip/can't miss prospect is the only way I'd make the deal. If not keep him for 2 seasons and if need be deal him at the deadline for a 1st and prospect. |

That is best case scenario I think ... Giving up a top 15 and a can't miss bluechip is more than enough IMO |

When will people learn. A rule of thumb is , If Boston did it ,it didn't really happen . You imagined it.
There is a poster hanging above the Dean of Disciplines desk. It has the NHL golden rules.
If it is Canucks throw the book at them
If it is a star player ,there was no intent
If it is Chicago a mid level fine or suspension is acceptable (unless it is against Canucks. If against the Canucks follow the Boston rule)
If it is against the bruins, it didn't happen. - VANTEL
Oh my God....you guys are taking theis conspiracy theory way too far. How many Mel Gibsons can post on the same thread. Time to get over 2011 ,pal, the better team won. |

After reading through JJ's thread I can't believe the refs cost the Hawks the game on that clean Seabrook hit. |
