How do you go until the 4th round without having a draft pick?

The worst thing about being a bottom feeder is the rebound is not guaranteed. How many years has Edmonton been in this rebuild? If we tank and screw up our selection then we are in worse shape and in the rebuild longer.

The idea of landing a McDavid and the great impact he could have to this team....

The number of ntc's is ridiculous and if we could move one or more of the four dmen for a top6 finisher who can score 25 a year... the idea of tanking another year or so wouldn't even be entertained.

Unfortunately, I think you are correct about the ntc's, Torts is needed to push some of them out... but it is also scary to think some of these core guys sounded like they wanted to defend Torts when they were clearing out their lockers and take all the blame.

Torts is the guy for one more year and then fire his ass.

None of the things that I was hoping for is coming to light.

Although the demise of the Lighting could be something good. Since Stevie loves Hammer and apparently loves Van D how about Hammer for Palat and rights to Callahan. Throw in picks to even things out.

If Gaunce can fill a 3rd line spot, then that was a great pick. It's just I can hear Tony Gallagher refer to his speed as glacial... He looks really slow at times, but seems to have some hockey sense- gets to where he needs to be and is big. He will likely need a couple years in the AHL.

We have missed Willie at times, and if Cedarholm is a clone then get him in the AHL to learn and develop his craft.

Drafting future top6 players is great, but from our checkered drafting history to have draft picks actually play in the league is an accomplishment.

Some say if you don't win the cup then your season was a failure.

Edmonton is built so much for the future that they are afraid to do anything now. They need to make a move to bring in some great vet leadership but are too afraid to do anything because they don't want to trade away youth and potential.

If what you are doing now isn't working, maybe try something different? Hopefully those young guys there don't have any ntc's because they should be getting some more young players with these draft picks coming up and sooner or later they will have to trade one for what they need.
