Actually the study was proven that Friday is he worst day to fire people. It ruins the weekend and the employee is nit fully recovered to start searching again on Monday. The first day is shock. Day 2-3 is anger, frustration and drinking binge and day 4 is recovery and game plan for future. Day 5 is put that plan in action. So if fired on Thursday then day 5 is Monday. Office gossip and politics was also covered in the study. First day is speculation. Second day is confirmation. Usually the fired person comes back for a last bruhahaha wit the co workers after the day of being fired. Anyways lets not get into the politics of office HR and lets see what happens with draft.

not until a new GM is hired, unfortunately...

They would have done it by now if they were concerned about season ticket renewals. At this point, what's the hurry?

I know there are plenty of reasons to not like the guy, and y'all had a disappointing season , but is Tort's that bad a coach? I think he's a short term coach for sure, but I consider his time in NY for the most part successful, and obviously T-Bay was good as well.
At the beginning of the season I just thought Van needed personnel changes..., plus there were lots of injuries....guess I find it hard to totally blame Torts.

Yes once a new GM is hired. Gillis first mistake was not bringing in his own coach. You have to put your stamp on the team and getting your own coaching staff is the best way to do it. Unless the guy you want is unavailable.

Torts was right about one thing.. The locker room is stale. I think the players know that as well.

I recall an interview with famous soccer great (player and coach) Johann Cruyff. He mentioned that every great team, no matter how great or even their age, had a shelf life of roughly 3-4 years. After that the entire locker room needed a refresh.

The trick here, as he noted, was that the refresh rarely occurs when it should because owners/GMs/coaches hold on to the memories of what once was and desperately think an addition or subtraction here or there will bring the team back to the top.

Although it's much trickier in hockey to replace a team than it is in European soccer, this team is clearly past it's shelf life.

poopty weather, I have a bad cold, nothing on TV....excuses I know, but I was just surfing around and that caught me eye. He had some loyal disciples on this site a year ago, I'm sure there are a plethora of Canucks fans that still do.

How many dollars of Edler's contract would the Nucks have to take back?

I'll pass thank you. Cloutier was bad, still is , but Esplen at times was worse. He didn't have his finger on the pulse at all as far as player worth, more like his finger was deep in his ass.

No idea. I don't actually think swapping picks and swapping Edler for Reinhart is all that bad a deal in itself, but I think he's dreaming if he thinks Sam Reinhart will still be there at that time.

Every single player massively under-performed this year. Kassian is really the only player to have developed this year or improved and Torts refused to put him in the top 6.

The guy talks a good game but doesn't back it up. He talks youth and then buries them on the 4th line that plays 5mins a night. He's a mirage just smoke and mirrors.

The only reason you'd entertain keeping him is to piss off the players so they'll waive their NTC and tank for McDavid.

Almost every single player had a down year.... pretty much the whole top 6, and not just a semi bad year..... I find it hard not to blame torts.... we went from 8th best to 6th worst with essentially the same line up..... I know we weren't a contender but we should have been in the running for a playoff spot.

Well said. So who do want among the available coaches? Laviolette , Trotz, an AHL coach? Promote an assistant ?

edler + Kesler + Burrows... but I don't want to just give Edler or Burrows away and their value is low so I could see them staying for another year hoping for a rebound season.

I would love to see GM's get into trading mode again. I think if someone moved for the twins it might create some other reactionary moves or (gulp) ....Dominoes

Personally, if I'm the new GM, I'd be entertaining offers for every single member on this roster, including the sleep doctor. If the value is there, pull the trigger.
