My guess for the top 5 as of now:

Florida: Ekblad
Buffalo: Reinhart
Edmonton: Draisaitl(which would be a mistake over Bennet IMO)
Calgary: Bennett
New York: Dal Colle

I hope Linden and his GM(Benning?) choose Ehlers over Ritchie and Nylander at that point.

Explosive speed, great hands and can finish. Also plays the PK and isn't soft. I have yet to see a valid argument against taking him at 6 other than one of the consensus top 5 falling. There's a drop-off after that top 6, although Fleury is also the real deal IMO.

I don't have enough knowledge of anyone to give a fair assessment other than the youtube highlights and reports I've been reading. That, and how they turn out in NHL 14. Seems like the top 5 are pretty much set and then it's pretty wide open. Maybe Ekblad will fall to #6!?
Curious to see what Edmonton does. Obviously great to have another high pick, but at what point do they try make a move for a d-man?

WORD

Eff the Bruins model. The league'll have it figured out by the time we construct a sh!ttier version anyways, & once again we'll be 5yrs behind the curve because there's no vision or foresight at the top of this franchise. (I sincerely hope Linden proactively changes that... Let's trailblaze rather than being the perpetually unoriginal copycat franchise that buys into a trend after it's been played out.)

I'm starting to warm up to Ehlers the more I see of him. What would be the Pros and Cons of taking Ehlers over Virtanen?

That would be awesome if all of them develop as predicted!

Any word on the playoff pool?

- Chest Rockwell

Thanks for the interest. Unfortunately I think we just didn't get things going in time to really set things up. Unless of course there is still interest in putting together a box-format or list-format type of pool. It would of course be during/after these first three games tonight (not sure if that's a huge factor for everyone)

The Bruins model worked in the east but didn't help them in the finals against the speed, forecheck and skill of the Blackhawks.

Ehlers is better defensively, a better playmaker and just a smarter player in general from what I've been reading.

And if I remember correctly Virtanen's work ethic isn't that consistent, is it?

Ehlers is on the small side for the NHL. I prefer Ritchie or Virtanen.

Everyone says Virtanen is going to be an NHL player. The question is where in your lineup is he going to play? 3rd line grinder or top 6 scorer with grit?

If he is as good as you think he could go to the Isles in which case we get Dal Colle

Yeah... You don't spend a 6th overall pick on "hopefully". Ehlers has the skillset of a superstar. Virtanen doesn't.

I'd rather Ehlers than Dal Colle, but I'll be happy with either.

Would anybody here consider moving the twins or Edler If they were tradeable & in all honesty with no homering...how much do y'all figure we would get for them?

At 163lbs, Ehlers would be one hit away from being "Bruled" out of the league. Virtanen, Dal Colle or Bennett will be the smarter picks.
