I like Niskanen. Im not prepared to pay him over $6M, but I like him for that amount if Timonen is retiring.

yeah the first one i meant

regardless this game is not promising so far. pens way too perimeter oriented. getting manhandled physically. orpik and scuderi are just awful anymore. their PK is going to be their undoing. hard to believe they were 1 or 2 most of the year in it

- stayinthefnnet

thats how the pens play. Outside game and cant play physical hockey. takes them out of their element.

Yup. And for all the abuse he gets here sometimes, Coburn, at 4.5 million, is a great deal
- BiggE

I've come around a bit on Coburn. Used to call him "Mr. Consistency" because he would be so up and down but he has leveled out. That angry side could always show up a bit more, but he has become a good d-man. Hopefully he keeps that going next year. They will need it.

I really wanted Holmgren to go after Giordano when Feaster was going ape poop. Seems like a fart in a windstorm now, as he is the captain and locked up for a while.

Giordano is exactly what the Flyers need. If it wasn't for him ditching them the first time, I'd suggest Hamhuis when Vancouver will be rebuilding.

- flyer_nutter

i agree with you on giordano for either of the PA teams. hes the type of guy they could use for sure.

yeah but some idiot GM with a ton of cap room to burn and desperate for D will give him 6 years and 40+ million and he's just not worth that much

I think those slow shut-down guys are going to go the way of the dinosaurs.

Younger players coming in are so fast, having d-men who cant keep up is tough. A guy like Beauchemin is tough, but the guy can also skate.

oh yeah. he gets abused here because he is the de facto number one. but if he was a FA, you know damn well hed get a fairly higher number than 4.5

Maybe he participates in that no sex thing, and lets the fury fester within his loins.

That would be my rule as coach during the playoffs.

He'd get Girardi money. Coburn hasn't been beaten on for most of this season. He's been very steady and I think he's gotten progressively better

I wouldnt even worry about it to be honest. Does anyone else feel like there is going to be a shakeup on D this upcoming offseason?

I believe they did studies and it showed players perform BETTER when they have sex the night before games.

I don't think a big shakeup. I can see them adding another FA and moving out Grossmann or ,less likely, Schenn.

No doubt, 29, 6'5 220 and a good skater as well. If AMac can get 6 and 30, Coburn would be looking at 6 and 39 or even a bit more.

GMs are like kids in a candy store, especially in the big markets. The more the cap goes up the more they will overspend.
