How would you grade MJL?
- jmatchett383

He's in a class all his own.

And careful, say his name 2 more times and he appears, and there's no easy way to get rid of him.

I became good friends with one of my teachers during senior year and he told me I was universally disliked by most teachers. He said it was because of my "lazy attitude and their inability to discipline me."

Basically, when teachers disciplined me, I just shrugged my shoulders and said whatever. Apparently, they hate that.

- PhillySportsGuy

Really, all you need to do in high school is pay attention just enough to learn what you need to know (unless you're taking calculus or physics) and score relatively well on your SAT's, and you're set.

Yikes

My parents had no idea about nearly everything I did as a teen.

Yeah. It wasn't easy. I always thought it was such an invasion of our privacy as students.

I try very hard to impress. I would like a monthly grade on my posts.

Can I pick a post of yours from this thread at random and grade it?

I spent most of high school wasted so when teachers disciplined me I usually zoned out and daydreamed about tastykakes.

Pretty much. I have a very good short term memory. I've never studied for any test (College, career or high school) for more than 1 day. I just cram.

I have a friend with a ridiculous photographic memory. He can name where almost every NFL and NBA player went to college just by reading it once. He's never had to study for anything. Just absorbs everything the first time. So unfair.

In the regular season. He couldn't handle the playoff pressure.

That was another thing that became much stricter. Teachers paid very close attention to anyone who looked drunk or high.

I hate hearing these stories.

All I can say is that I read every student's paper multiple times (to avoid "grading on bad day") and do my best to blank out their names until after settling on a score.

That being said--I remember the anger I felt when I handed in a rough draft of my master's thesis, and my advisor held it in his hand as though he were weighing it and said, "Well, it feels like a thesis."

I'm amazed people are still amazed by the gullibility and stupidity of other people.
- wolfhounds

Louis CK I believe said this:

Think of how stupid the average person the average is. Now, realize that 50% of people on this Earth are more stupid than that person.

I never got the origin of this, how putting one finger into an unnatural position curved around another figure was supposed to bring good luck.

I think you're a witch.

Teachers and professors these days are atrocious. Not all of them, but so many are terrible.

It seems like they determine grades before even reading papers.

Not gonna get into it, but I'm gonna disagree with the second half of this statement. But I envy you for the first part.
