Maybe, but if he has a concussion, I don't think he would've been on the ice at all yesterday. So this is speculative, but I don't believe his injury is a concussion.

Occasionally, physically exerting yourself can manifest concussive symptoms for the first time.

Me too. I was pro Emery until he went down that year. What a great ride but what a goalie mess.

Get rid of Schenn and put VL on the second line. Why is everyone so high on Schenn? He doesn't bring much to the table horrible on face offs, weak shot and a horrible passer. There is a reason he is still not signed.

He's also just 22 years old and a 20 goal scorer in his first "full" NHL season.

I know at times it seems like he's been here forever--but he's shown flashes already. He will be a very, very good player in the NHL for a long time if he stays healthy. Neither Richards nor Carter had his kind of production as a 22-year-old.

And in Giroux's first full NHL campaign--as a 21/22 year old, he had 16 goals and 31 assists, for 47 points. So...don't write off Schenn just yet.

It's no better from the other side. 20 8-page papers = 160 pages of grading. And that's for just one class.

Make it easy on yourself - mix em all up and do As, Bs and Cs and just scribble some stuff in red - kids aren't reading the mistakes anyway. lol.

I have off Friday Saturday and Sunday and expect to be drinking beer and watching playoff hockey.

Yeah but you can't fail grading a paper and be forced to retake the course

That being said, that's rough. Hopefully the papers are on something exciting

I had a professor who told me he only graded the first few papers than he just gave out similar grades on the rest of them and waited until the students protested their grades. If they did he'd go over their paper and change it otherwise he figured they got what they deserved.

Doesn't that cheapen the value of the A?

Why not just award every team the Stanley Cup?

He's not signed because he's an RFA and there's literally no rush to sign him. Not too hard to figure out. With VL not turning out how they expected, maybe they want to see if they can move VL in the off-season before giving Schenn a vote of confidence. Who knows, really. Either way, there's no need to freak out when an RFA is unsigned. It's an inevitability. Maybe they want Nashville to Offer Sheet him.....

I hate hearing these stories.

All I can say is that I read every student's paper multiple times (to avoid "grading on bad day") and do my best to blank out their names until after settling on a score.

That being said--I remember the anger I felt when I handed in a rough draft of my master's thesis, and my advisor held it in his hand as though he were weighing it and said, "Well, it feels like a thesis."

that must be it. although if you relinquish the good fight of unbiased rationality to acquire your membership in the goon squad, it may do irreparable damage to your otherwise Norse deity status in my eyes

Wait wait wair, hold the phone...are you saying that an increase in my amount of bloodthirst would LOWER my standing as a Norse deity?

I was a studio artist. The single most subjective grading I've ever been involved in. My favourites were the ones where your classmates gathered and critiqued your work and you got graded based on that. Sitting there thinking "I should have been nicer to that b!tch."

I never got graded based on my work, but in my freshman composition class, we had to give our papers to a classmate and they'd help us "edit" the paper. It became very clear that some (maybe most) kids in college do not grasp the English language well at all. I basically took my paper back, reread it myself ignoring all of my classmates' edits, and handed it in. Oddly enough, I still managed to get an A, all by myself.

Edit: My only flaw as a writer that I am readily aware of is an overuse of commas.
