I just….. have a feeling we'll see Cal Heeter in NHL playoff action. :/

Can't happen. Ed Snider promised us that there would never be a goalie carousel on the Flyers again.

Emery is still a solid goalie for you guys. On the Ranger board, I posted that I would actually rather face Mason than Emery. Mason's only got 4 losing playoff games as experience and it was in Columbus. A young inexperienced playoff goalie in an atmosphere like MSG and even in his own arena in a city like Philly can get frazzled pretty easily. Emery has great poise and sound positional play. He's a little slower but mentally he may be more prepared to handle the playoff atmosphere than Mason in my opinion.

Or it could be great.

Here's how I see it.

We are back in the playoffs. It sucks not having playoff hockey. We have AT LEAST 4 more great games left to watch. With those 4 games, we get to see a guy who has battled career threatening character issues, a usually career ending necrotic hip, and multiple secondary stints show to the world that he REALLLY wants to be a starting goalie in this league still.

If there is one goalie that I think has enough heart to pull off something like this... its Ray Emery.

Lets go Flyers... we got some Rangers dreams to kill.

Im with ya, he played pretty solid for the most part of late save a few games. He's been in many playoff games before and is a veteran. However its gonna take a really good and disciplined game from the Flyers to win the series.

Just clarifying it's not because I think Emery will suck. He's alright. They've just been too injury-free this season is all.

Played in the finals with Ottawa. He can handle the pressure. While I'd prefer Mason, I'm not terribly worried about Emery as long as the Flyer D (forwards + defensemen) is good. Mason certainly has better physical tools to bail out bad team play than Emery. That's on the Flyers team to take care of though

I know it was a different team construction, but please remember that we once were forced to place our hopes in Brian Boucher, after our preferred goalie, Michael Leighton, was lost. We were able to knock off the #2 seed that year. All is not lost.

Again, for emphasis, Micheal Leighton was our preferred goalie.

Adversity.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the name of an old, old wooden ship?

Emery will be fine at 5 on 5. In my opinion, it is short handed, where he is forced to move, that could be troublesome against a skilled passing team like the Rangers. His playoff experience is a big plus over Mason. My guess was that we were going to see Emery sooner or later. Now it is just sooner.

It sucks, but Emery is a good and capable Goalie. The Flyers can still win this game. As long as they play a quality team game. I believe in Emery.

this (frank)ing sucks. I don't care how you spin it or try to look at the bright side. they remained healthy all god damn year only to have some stupid Penguin schmuck make an bumhole play in the second to last game. (frank)ing pisses me off. I hope we play them in the second round so badly. Simmonds can send Schmegma into next year for all I care.

This. Yeah, pretty much this. I'm so angry, there isn't a unit of measure in existence that can be used to quantify it.

either that, or Emery will play out of his mind and single handedly lead the Flyers to a 2 zip series lead, including a shutout.

Mason will then pronounce himself ready to play in game 3 ... and there will be all kinds of controversy.

Emery will start, and Ryan Parent will fall on Emery's leg, forcing Mason to come in and they will post the NHL's first playoff shared shutout since 2010.

The Flyers have been coming to the same party [without a goalie] for the last 12 years and in no way is that depressing.

Should we call Dr. Recchi for his expertise in diagnosing concussions?
