Based on what? They're different types of playmakers, but their end result is about the same. Giroux is the more "stylish" playmaker a la Gretzky, but Getzlaf is the more "unnoticeable yet dangerous" playmaker a la Oates. Not comparing the players' skillset, just the ways they go about their playmaking.

Dont go on my opinion. Ask any professional analyst and Im sure they would choose Giroux over Getzlaf

Still going to say Mason plays game 1. He was probably kept out today and will skate in morning with team tomorrow. It also just plays a little game with rangers to not let them know who they will face. Morning skates are closed. I am not saying it is a huge advantage but just a little head game.

That just tells me that Giroux is the better player. He doesnt have a superstar on his wing. He had a 40 year old Jagr and scored 93 pts.......
- GOA88

I'm not really gonna argue this further. Giroux and Getzlaf are, if nothing else, in the same category with a slight edge possibly to Giroux. Butit's not some crazy difference, and a sniper would not cause some magic 25-point increase to Giroux's numbers.

With Emery I'm thinking we need at least 4 goals against the King to win. When was the last time we scored 4 in the garden?
- GOA88

Why would you think that? Emery has like a 1.87 GAA lifetime versus the Rangers. I looked it up yesterday. His save % is like 936 or something.

I'm starting to think the same. Emery just said he practiced as if he was starting but doesnt know anything yet

Only Bob Ryob Fist can bring about that kind of automatic production.

They're virtually equals in terms of playmaking, skill, and talent. Both are elite centers. Id argue a lot of analysts would pick getzlaf due to his monster size.

Would Gus be sitting if he were on a two-way deal?
- PhillySportsGuy

Don't think that has anything to do with it.

I understand Getzlaf is an elite center. I just cant remember the last time Getzlaf has been ranked higher than Giroux in the last 4-5 years and also Giroux leads the league in pts over the last 4 seasons. Cant argue with that.

Reportedly, Ghost flat-out said he was going to wait until August 15th, 2015 and become a UFA.

That he does, and he deserves some credit for that.

But he's also responsible for some of the absolute stupidest things that any of us have ever seen a hockey player do. It was more tolerable when he was younger, but he's the old man in the room now, and he should be expected to carry himself better on and off the ice.

How does Hartnell not carry himself well off the ice?

The bolded part is correct. As for the rest, it's debatable to say the least. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you don't watch many Ducks games, though.

Sure, but getzlaf has size to go with his elite talent and a cup ring. Tough call, though I will say giroux might be better. This is like arguing whether a red Ferrari is better than a red Lamborghini.

i have no issue with emery starting, the guys been to this dance before..nothing against mason but in all reality emery will be a better option for playoff hockey, he has been pretty rock solid his last couple of starts besides the d playing poopy in front of him.
