Once again cappy is back because of snow's failures last season. It's an admission of guilt by Garth. I don't think cappy is the long term answer by any means nor should he be back but with some tweaks, this team can be much better next year and will not be a bottom five team. - Dan Petriw
He's not the answer unless you're looking to lose. |

Yep. I'd almost rather we did screw up early just to get this 'regime' out, but I think JT is going to come out like a man possessed and we now have a legit star in the making with Strome. Then de Haan and Hamonic will become a legit top pairing...etc etc. We have more talent here than we've seen in over 25 years. I'm very afraid they're going to do just well enough to buy Cappy time and galvanize Snow's 'I know better than you' attitude. - keaner17
The only thing we can hope for is the team being sold at this point. This team will never be competitive with these clowns running the show. |

I have heard it said that Cappy will be on a Laviolette-like leash going into the next season. The problem is that means Doug Weight is your next coach. No change.... - keaner17
Yeah. MAYBE he'll fire him when the season is toast. That's about it. |

I really don't believe there is going to be a sale. I also think Wang is honest in that regard. As a true business man, he'll listen to offers, but it doesn't mean he's soliciting them.
We'll see. Cappy is my big issue. After that, Snow. Snow could have gone a long way towards boosting my confidence for next year if he had axed Cappy.
I do think we'll see a major upgrade at goaltender. I'm concerned that it may come at the expense of some assets but oh well. After that, I don't have any real confidence of additional major upgrades. That said, I think a legit starting goalie with Nabby as backup adds 12-15 points to us in the standings. Then we allow for continuing improvement by our young talent and viola.
If that goaltending issues somehow manages to not materialize.....oh boy. |

Hahaha touche! i know you guys are getting asked a lot. I really am interested to see the team you guys ice next year. Yes the potential 2015 pick the sabers get but also I am a huge JT fan. Hopefully you guys find a nice complementary piece for him.
With Garth, Wang and JC in charge though it is not looking great - Beezer33
Thanks. Snow will keep this year's pick. You'll get the 2015 pick which I think will be pretty high. It was a good trade for you guys.
Everyone should be a huge JT fan. The guys is a class act and a great player. He works hard, he always says the right things and he wants to win. Every fan wants guys like that on their team. |

I just wish they would be able to keep a decent winger around him. I think strome is a good 2c for the future. if you guys win the lottery i would say take bennett and you'll be set without overpaying for garbage players. |

As a SABRES fan you would think to know how to spell the teams name correctly........

I suppose it's possible....It's certainly possible that they didn't want to add a second coaches salary for that reason, however if Wang was truly LOOKING to sell, I doubt the extension offers to Vanek and Amac would have been made. - keaner17
Meh. I don't think that's a good barometer at all. As long as Wang is owner he's free to make whatever decisions he likes. |

Why is Cappy your main issue when it was Snow who hired him, extended him, and endorsed him for next season? |

Sure but there's a reason why teams tend to strip down assets prior to a sale. So the idea of adding $70-$80 million in contracts when you're trying to unload the team would be a bit counterproductive IMO. |

Maybe they figured they had to get to the payroll floor and might as well use it for Vanek? This sale offer may have come later as well? No telling what goes though Wang's mind? |

Wouldn't better talent make the team more appealing to potential buyers? |

Because I think this team is monumentally better with a better coach. I get the degrees of associationi in that Snow ultimately makes the decision to hire him, but Cappy is more more immediate concern of the two.
This is not a 'defense' of Snow or even an insinuation that I want him around. I can take or leave him (preferably leave), but given the talent we have coming up, I want Cappy out NOW. |

Talent may, but big contracts don't. As I said, there's a reason why when teams strip down payroll, it's assumed they may be for sale. I'm not saying this is gospel, but I consider those contract offers more of an indication of a long term plan than trying to help a sale. |

Wouldn't you think that would be smarter to do through short term contracts as opposed to a 7-8 year contract on a 30+ year old guy?
