Scott Hartnell talking about McDonagh:
“Yeah, he’s a little banged up, I read somewhere,” added Flyers left wing Scott Hartnell about McDonagh. “You definitely want to be physical on him. You don’t want to take a dumb penalty or a roughing penalty. You want to be clean and hard on him and make sure he is working hard for every inch of ice out there with or without the puck. Defensively, if we don’t get pucks deep, we will lose this series. McDonagh had a great game the last time in the Garden. He matched up on us. He kept taking the puck away, dispy-doodling and he scored a nice goal. You let that happen against a guy like that and the Rangers, it’s going to be a long night. We have to be a little bit smarter.” - jimbo83
And then the media wonders why coaches dont like talking about injuries in the playoffs. |

Even the flyers fans are pissed there wasn't an immediate response to the hit that concussed mason. I guess the flyers lack toughness too? |

Mason ruled out officially for game 1. And another flyers fan posted that ghost reportedly told the flyers hes gonna wait until august 2015 to become a ufa, although idk if that was sarcasm.
Edit: it was sarcasm |

He's such a lying sack of sh!t. The first chance they can take a run at McDonagh, clean or otherwise, they will. |

This is of no surprise, they would go after him & Girardi regardless cause of the duos success against the Giroux line, throw in Macs shoulder injury which everyone knows about & you will get them like a bull seeing red when Mac goes into the corner in pursuit of the puck.
Funny cause 17 yrs ago in the last Ranger/Philly series Leetch was hurt on a hit by a Flyer (Trent Klatt?)& that in fact had been the Flyer game plan all along, hit Leetch at any chance, legal or other wise. |

Klatt broke Leetch's wrist with a boarding type of hit in Game Two of that series.
The Rangers didn't win another game.
McDonagh is the closest thing this team has to a Leetch type of a blueliner. He is vital to this team's potential playoff run. The Flyers know that and if McDonagh gets hurt, on a clean hit, than there's nothing that can be done about that. But we all know full well that Hartnell or Rinaldo have no issues with throwing cheap shots. |

Crimso called Philly in 3, so we had to have someone on our side return the favor. |

Close, I like the Rangers to win this in five games.
The Flyers offense is as strong as any team, in these playoffs, but their defense and goaltending are ripe to be exploited. |

Since when has Wayne Simmonds done anything dirty, let alone intentionally? |

Downie is another player that seems to disregard playing within the lines as well.
Unfortunately, it's part of the game to exploit opponent's physical ailments, and we all know full well McDonagh is going to be targeted in every game the Rangers play in the playoffs.
All we can hope for, as Rangers fans, is that he is healthy and truly ready to go. |

If the Flyers were still coached by Laviolette, then yeah ... I could see the Rangers in 5.
But under Berube they're WAY better positionally. I think the series will be a long one, and a toss up. |

Maybe you turned off the end of the last game because you were losing but at the end Simmonds slashed Macs wrist twice, 2nd time with Macs glove already off from the first slash, yea, that's called dirty. |

Not saying each game will be a blowout; I just think the Rangers are a better built playoff type team.
Defense and goaltending are both serious advantages for New York. Coaching, while Berube did a great job, should be in favor of the Rangers as well. Special teams, the Rangers finished in the top ten in both categories, or close to it.
Yes, the Flyers have the advantage in offense, but the Rangers are quietly a pretty well balanced bunch, up front, as well.
I just don't think it's a good matchup for Philadelphia and you can't ignore the psychological factor that Lundqvist seems to hold over Philadelphia. |

pretty sure he was being sarcastic.
or, at least he SHOULD have been sarcastic. That was certainly a dirty play by Simmer ... and I say that even though he's my favorite player on the Flyers. |

Nothing wrong with having confidence in your team. I don't think anyone here is saying Philadelphia is a bad team, they aren't.
I just really like this matchup for the Rangers. |

fair enough.
The psychological factor is definitely there ... whether it's Hank or MSG. Although if might be eliminated if the Flyers can grab one of the first two games. |

Hey if WS was on my team I would love him too, I see him being a huge factor in this series. Again not to harp on the "toughness" factor or physical mind games, but I see first 10 minutes Philly really try to set a tone, by any means necessary. Especially someone who has skill & toughness like Simmonds, getting in guys faces, even throwing challenges out there to any Ranger, "lets go, I'm here." |
