Still have my fingers crossed that Dal Colle falls into our laps.

I have my fingers crossed we don't draft at all and package that pick for something exceptional. That said, my hope also requires a competent GM to pull it off so hopefully Linden plays his part.

Would be shocked, there aren't many knocks on him and he plays in the OHL as well. Draisaitl is the only one of the top 5 you could hope for. I'd be pumped with either him or Ehlers.

We are hoping for MDC to slide to 6th but what if we win the lottery do we still pick MDC? Bennet? Ekbald? Reinhart?
I like Ekbald. This guy has a rocket of a shot and reminds me of Webber. His slapper hit the post and made the net move and he did that twice. That is some serious power. He hits like a pro already. Needs some help with zone but that is something that can be covered with good coaching. He is a leader and is most likely the most nhl ready player this draft.

What do you guys think?

no point in having a heated conversation with an enviro-fascist.... not like there would be any common ground. only point of a discussion is if you there is the possibility of some willingness on the other side to hear your argument...

I know, right? It's like for some reason people take offence to being called a fascist.

Stupid tree huggers, enviro fascists, socialists, left wing nutters, communists, conspiracy theorists, sundry malcontents and assorted left tards should be a lot more open to having a decent conversation with someone as open minded as yourself.

This is who I think Canucks should trade up for. I am not a fan of out D at all.

They play positional hockey IMO and do little else.
They have very little toughness and no PMD .

Garrisons shot is a joke. He hits the net one in every 2000 shots.
Hamhuis should have been born a Swede
Bieksa too many errors ( but is my favourite)
Edler Whoa
Tanev positionally sound
Stanton Decent pick up

If we win they lottery, I think we should trade down to a position where we can still pick MDC and pick up another piece that can help us now. I know that piece won't be mind blogging, but something that will provide us with Top 9 depth.

Easier said than done, but we aren't going to will the lottery pick anyway. Just some sipping on morning coffee dreaming... if only it had some bailey's into it... Stupid weekdays!

If we win the lottery, we pick Bennett or better yet Ekblad, we're not the Oilers, we can't afford to trade down and not use the first overall.

I agree with you. My thinking was in the lines of using our d depth and drafting a potentially #1 d we can trade from our strength and get the help we need. The FA pool this year for D is weaker then it ever was. Even Andy Mcdonald now off the market. Imagine if we made Hammer, Garrison, Tanev, Stanton available for a trade. I have a feeling teams like Det, Columbus, Anaheim, Philly and Colorado will have their D exposed in this playoffs and they will pay a premium for someone like Hammer or Tanev. I am very skeptical of Bennet. He does not have a top line player look to him. For first overall if we get someone that will top out as 2nd line at best then we might as well trade that pick.

I'm down with that. Then we trade Kesler for Laughten & Morin, as well as Edler for Mantha.
Suddenly our cupboards are full.

Can you believe the Flyers just resigned McDonald to 6 year $30 million extension?!

It's so ridiculous that even the Flyers Insider/Fanboy Extraordinaire doesn't have it up on the main page.

The guy was making $550,000 this year! That's almost a 1000% raise! Who is this guy's agent?

That is why I am saying we can use our glut of D and trade them for a Premium. Imagine what Colorado would pay for Hammer specially after Colorado is out in the first round.
