Now picture this. Canucks picks with their 6th overall MDC. During the press conference our new GM Pierre McGuire plays this clip and does the voice over to explain why he picked MDC. That would be money!

I ve seen him at 7-9 by most reports including bobby Mac. Also button is an idiot who looks like a who from whoville. - Yeti1181
Button gets ripped on a lot, but he's made some good calls as well in the past, it's just easier to rip on the guy who's rankings are different from consensus. |

He's not alone. Corey Pronman said on Twitter that he wouldn't take Virtanen in the top-10.
"Corey Pronman @coreypronman Apr 13
Not unreasonable but I wouldn't pick there. RT @jasminesaroya: @coreypronman thoughts on Virtanen? do you think he should go in the top 10?" |

True enough. Pretty interesting to go back to past drafts and look at the long list of "where are they now's" from the top 30 picks as well as the "how did 29 other teams miss drafting this guy."
Virtanen looks like a solid pick though, and Button has a lot of smallish players without big numbers to back them up ranked much higher. Time will tell. |

Love how Cassels was in on so many plays. May as well trade for Laughton from Philly too! - 89_hockey

It's official: the 2013-14 Vancouver Canucks set the franchise record for least amount of goals scored in a season (191). |

I think this season has hurt his value, although Holmgren is known for his stupidity so yes probably. |

We have Kassian, I think its best we stay away from Ritchie....we need a playmaker..... - chompsey
Have you seen Kassian pass? the guy is a playmaker and is just coming into his own... In any case, I think we draft the best centre we can get our hands on... or package the pick, Hansen, and our first from next season to Winnipeg for Kane. You all know the Canucks can't draft for shiite under Ron Delorme's watch. Canucks aren't that great in the past at player dev either, so send the pick off for someone who is a known commodity.
I said it before the KKK line would be awesome, with Kane Kesler Kassian. we could call it the Special 'K' line. That would be formidable no.1 line with
Burrows Hank Jensen on the 2nd line
Daniel Matthias Santorelli
Sestito Richardson Higgins
Edler Hamhuis
Garrison Bieksa

Kesler's not much of a distributor and Kassian is not enough of a distributor to make that line click. You'd need Marty St Louis to get that line skating in sync. |

That line would have the size and toughness to make it happen. I think Kassian is underrated as a passer. The guy can feather the puck for a big man.
In any case, at a minimum they only need to power pucks to the net and beat down on the d as they get garbage goals from in tight. I could just see these three pounding teams into submission night after night. |

I don't share your optimism for those 3 as a unit. Kassian can't pass like a top 6 playmaker would need to be able to if Kane and Kesler were the other guys on his line and I can't remember ever seeing a successful 1st line that "pounded teams into submission" to get their points without being able to pass effectively.
Unless he's skating with Henrik Sedin or a different center I don't see us getting full value out of Kane. |

@BradZiemer: Booth on his wedding: "We are getting married in a field where I shot my biggest deer. I want the deer head in the wedding somehow.”
what a romantic. This is what over $22 million in career earnings entitles you too. If I wanted to do that at my wedding, I'd be the one with my head on a placard. |

If Pierre Maguire is the new GM, I'll start cheering for someone else for the first time in 26 years. It would also drastically lower my opinion of Trevor Linden. |

For as annoying as he is he a really good hockey mind, especially with junior and prospects. If the rebuild goes then he may be a great asset. |

Horvat needs to be in the line-up and I think the roster you made looks to close to this years...there should be some major shake-ups.
Why try for different results with pretty much the same but a year older, 6th worst team in the league?
I expect that if some players with ntc's don't waive, we end up like Calgary...struggle as a 7th-10th team for 3-4 years before we finally start a rebuild.
