Don't know how i would feel about trading the likes of Horvat, the 6th overall plus ( as i'm sure that's what it would take) for what is arguably a one dimensional player who is a d-bag at that.

Decisions decisions...

I wonder if it would be possible to get it done with only one of those assets in the package instead of both. Don't care if he's a d-bag(didn't stop Kane, Marchand, etc from winning cups). Hell, we have one in Kesler according to everyone.

Ekblad is long gone by pick six.

I was meaning just general not specifically Canucks pick.

Good point, i get the feeling that management is going to try and make a splash such as inquiring Kane, though i'd personally prefer we continue the course, we have some decent prospects with the opportunity to add another bluechipper to the mix this draft.

Would much prefer we go the route of moving the likes of Kesler etc as opposed to what little talent we have in the minors.

Would love to acquire Kane and still move Kesler to recoup the young assets lost(ideally to Anaheim for Ott's 1st + top young player/prospect). Not sure if I'd do Horvat + 6th though, especially if one of the top 5 projected guys fall to 6 and someone surprises by drafting a Nylander/Ritchie/Ehlers in the top 5.

Johansen isn't realistic, he's their franchise player. No team is trading a big, young #1 center unless he demands it. Minny fans still view Vancouver as a rival, so I think their management would want an overpay for Granlund.
- Nucker101

It depends on where MIN see their team is at and whether a key addition or 2 would push them to a different level. We're at a different stage and need to think on a bit more strategic rejuvenation approach.

I'd be prepared to offer something like Kesler + Tanev + #6 for Granlund + Coyle.

Assuming the Vanek rumors are true, that would see MIN with a top 6 of:

Parise-Koivu-Pominville
Vanek-Kesler-Neidereitter

And for the Canucks:

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Coyle-Granlund-Kassian/Jensen

If Kane is available, I hope the new GM makes an offer.

Kane is one or two more bad decisions away from having the same fate as the cast members from Different Strokes

Agreed. With season ticket holders being given the opportunity to back out of their commitments in mid-July if they're not happy with the steps the club is taking, seems to indicate they are going to be pushing to make a big move. Patience is probably the best course but money talks for the current owners.

Personally I would like to keep Kesler and acquire Kane or somebody to play with him.

You still think Kesler is an effective center?

Is bet 29 other coaches would pick Thorton Marleau over the twins.
- VANTEL

I think the biggest part of the problem is who is available when you have the openings.

So this summer Vanek and Moulson are available, would you take them over the twins? If not, who would you take?

I wonder if they both could put up 60pts on the second line? Is that worth 7mil per? (Sedins)

Free agents = overpayment...

A line consisting of booth, Kesler, Kane would be hilariously aggravating

Kane with the twins would be something to see.

Yes. He has spent pretty much his entire career playing with 3rd liners. (Higgins, Raymond, ect.) A line of Kane / Kesler / Kassian could actually be a effective line where Kesler actually had 2 line mates instead of trying to carry around a couple of boat anchors.

Keslers best hockey has been played with legitimate top 6 players IE Sundin and the twins.

Would be a good buy-low target for teams like Detroit or Ottawa IMO.

Trading Edler not possible now with his albatross contract. Maybe next March if he starts playing better.

Kesler to Philly for Morin and Laughton.
or
Kesler to Pittsburgh for Pouliot and Bennet

Still had ZERO assists playing with Parise and Kane in the Olympics this year.

He was on their wing, which was more my point. Kesler's not much of a distributor.

Regardless, getting Kane to slot alongside him wouldn't change the fortunes of this team too much. Shipping him out in a package for 2 budding youngsters, one of whom can probably occupy the 1C post in the very near future, that's a far more effective retool strategy IMO.

That would be just as hilarious. Kane would be attacking he other team's net while the Sedins are still skating outside of the Canucks zone.

Kane - Playmaking C with Speed - Kesler would be amazing though. But Kesler's time here has come to an end IMO.

I'm not totally apposed to that. I just want to make sure the value is there. I still feel that Kesler is a very good player and if the only thing available is Sutter and pick then I would rather keep Kesler and try and get him a linemate.

What did you guys think of Dalpe?

Personally, I thought he looked good with what little top six time he got, showed good speed, used his size and has demonstrated some decent play-making/passing ability though his shot is weak and inaccurate.

With him being 24 i wouldn't mind keeping him around, however with Mattias he becomes a little redundant.

If you wanna go cheap/young and avoid UFA's there really isn't anyone else who fits that description.
