One offensive line; this is the challenge for Linden going forward. - LeftCoaster
Indeed.
I think trading Kesler will be addition by subtraction. it was too damn hard finding him line mates. I would think promoting Kassian to top 6 and build around him would be easier than finding players to play with Kesler. |

VanTel, you got your ignorant ass schooled about the demographics in B.C. on Carol's last post. If you don't know shiite about the people living in your larger community don't make ignorant comments about guys like Kadri appealing to any given demographic... - kaptaan

One of the reasons Schroeder never got a fair look is becasuse he could never displace Kesler as the second line center in either AV's or Tortorella's eyes. My opinion of Jordan is he's a 30 to 40 point center at best, that's his ceiling. Kesler is a 50 point second line center with a better trigger finger, meaning he'd score more goals.
If the Canucks could get a second line center that combines both Schroeder and Kesler's best attributes we'd be in great shape!! That said, they'd still need a top six winger on that second line. |

Don't like the idea of trading him at this point. |

I agree they need a top 6 center. IMO we don't need a 40 point center that is 5 foot 8.
You can as easily find a 6 foot center who will win more battles. If you are going to have an undersized player he better be damn good and not just mediocre like JS. |

A Kassian type deal would not be for a 3 rd overall in this draft. It could be a cornerstone to a bigger trade that would see the likes of Eberle for Kassian 6 th and something else like Tanev but not the 3 rd - VANTEL
yes.
I didn't mean straight up. and didn't bother qualifying the packages going back and forth.
I basically just meant the framework of a deal.
2nd overall and a much lesser piece
8th and kassian/tanev

I'm hoping Bo Horvat is that guy, but he won't be ready next year IMO. Maybe the Canucks can get a more NHL ready kid in a Kesler deal. Or go with Mathhias next year? (Etem) |

I like Etem and Ottawas 6 th. Would give us to high prospects. Bo should spend at least one year in Utica and Canucks should resign Santorelli as a buffer until the kids are ready. |

I'd take a 7th round pick for garrison. He's a terrible skater and his great shot never hits the net. Top it off with his terrible contract length |

Schroeder is probably better suited to play in the east, he's just ineffective to be playing in the west; even more so in the Pacific division. |

The package he brings is not as bad as you make it out to be, last year he was very good. A lot of players had off years; he still has value IMO. |

He's a good player, he's just not a high-end offensive player, for a little man, in my opinion. |

Are you convinced that Kassian can be? They basically have the same career points per game and Kassian's had 3 times the opportunity and many more games with better linemates. Once someone puts Schroeder with compatible linemates outside a system that minimizes a player's creativity & instinctive freedom, he'll be great. If he doesn't get his chance here, some other GM will get a low risk HIGH reward asset. - DrChristianTroy
Based on how Kassian has played down the stretch, I am absolutely certain that he can be a top six player. Notwithstanding his earlier issues, poor decision making, not using his big body enough, taking untimely penalties and simply not showing any creativity or offensive acumen, I think there has been a very positive readjustment and a much more confidence (and that includes Booth, yes I said it, deal with it, feckers! :ahh They have arguably been two of the best Canucks players down the stretch. Frankly, I'm fairly excited to see what a healthy/confident Booth can do (barring of course any further sort of injury *knock on a Moose's head*). And the same thing goes for Kassian. |

Yeah if he is Canucks top 6 expect another bottom 10 team. |

Is think Dont use the buyout on Booth seeing he has only one more year .I think use it on Garrison

I think we should trade Kesler for picks/prospects and sign Santo to replace him. I love Kesler and will hate to see him leave, but I don't want him on this team if he doesn't want to be here... |
