I've read a lot of good things about Kempe. That's who I'm hoping for if the big 5 are already selected.

They are ranked 11, 12 and 15. With pick 6 we should pick someone who's projected top 10 at least.

just seen the movie draft day . Have to admit it was entertaining. It went really quick . Had a nice twist at the end. Gives you a boner hoping Trev can pull this off.

Say 4 of the big five go in the first 4 and one of MDC, Draisaitl or Bennett is left for the flames at fifth. Canucks end up with pick 6-7. What kind of deal would the Canucks need to offer up to move up that one or two spots if Linden feels that is the only way he gets the guy he wants?

If I tried listing all the rankings that have been WAY off over the years, I'd be typing all night. The fun in scouting is disregarding the CSS rankings & coming up with your own criteria to project professional success. I personally like Kempe as a top 10 talent in this draft.

Can't sleep, so I'll give an example from a random year...

In 2003, CSS ranked the following players in the top 15 for North American skaters:
Dan Fritsche
Steve Bernier
Ryan Stone
Marc-Antoine Pouliot
Patrick O'Sullivan
Eric Fehr

That's 6 BAD whiffs...

Here are 8 guys they rated 16th & lower...
Ryan Kesler (16th)
Patrice Bergeron (28th)
Jeff Carter (27th)
Corey Perry (35th)
Shea Weber (42nd)
David B!tchBoy Backes (38th)
Brent Seabrook (25th)
Mike Richards (30th)

Bottom line - "expert rankings" don't mean a whole lot. Hopefully Linden & our future GM have their own criteria/philosophy for talent evaluation that meshes with whatever developmental philosophy they implement.

Meh, either way this fanbase will only respond positively to one thing, a proper retool/rebuild or whatever you want to call it. Not some "fan favourite" to market for jersey sales.
- Nucker101

I agree. Ive had my fill with fan faves and BC products wanting to play in the comforts of their home town. I want the best players available both young and veterans. (frank) demographics... build to win not to draw uneducated fans into the seats with meaningless poop.

I too like Kempe, but, I've read a lot over the past couple of days that Nylander has a higher offensive ceiling. Nylander apparently has great wheels and a high hockey IQ, his defensive game is lacking though.

Kempe is bigger, players a better 200 foot game and still has that offense. Tough call?

Nylander does apparently hold highhhh skill but is smallllll.

Seems to be the dilemma of the draft, as all the high skill kids are tiny, Ehlers, Nylander, Kapanen, Goldobin etc,

Where as, all the big guys are generally advertised as good two way guys, Perlini, Kempe, Richie, McCann etc

With that in mind, perhaps a hybrid type such as Virtanen might be the best call, ( big, skilled sniper)

So many options

So, Ryan Malone busted for DUI and cocaine possession.

Does TB buy him out this summer or does the NHL do TB a solid and suspend him until he completes rehab?

I know this will shock everyone, but somehow I do have a girlfriend.

Edit: And she's real, not fat/ugly, and not a dude.

Tanev Hansen and this years first for Evander Kane ,instant help up front Kane and Kassian would be a nice line to watch. You can even throw in a goalie prospect seeing they are not high on Pavelec.

McCann is supposed to be a gem but personally at six, the skillset of nylander is much needed on this roster.....

The kid is a tough thirty goal scorer , last time I checked we don't have one.

If you don't want to give up the pick then switch it with Jensen

Tanev Jensen and Hansen form Kane

Why not trade Kesler for Etem and Ottawa's 6 th overall and draft both?

Tanev + Hansen + 1st would surely not be enough for Kane. If Chevy is listening to offers I just can't imagine that's the best one he gets.

Nylander seems like Schroeder 2.0

If all the rumors are true, the Aquilini's want to emulate the Bruins model. This means we will likely see a pick that has both SIZE and SKILL.
