Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Game Review: Doing Just Enough to Lose, No More Sellouts?
The Trevor Linden era of the Vancouver Canucks history began on a negative note as the team dropped a 4-2 decision to the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday at Rogers Arena.

- Carol Schram

I really hope Linden's comments mean Torts is gone. Would be cool to see the big irishman in some sort of capacity too. Not sure what Linden and Quinn know about today's game, but who cares? I feel emotionally attached to them.

Torts is definitely gone IMO, I think he can read the writing on the wall too. (frank), we have the worst schedule left right now.

I have a feeling they're getting 3 or even 4 points the last 2 games.

Just sucks we play oilers and flames to end the season.
Why couldn't it be ducks and sharks.

- dshiddy

Because we already lost those games....

Hopefully we see some youth in our lineup for these last two games and either deserve to lose or the young guys make a game of it.... Just don't think we need to see all of Daniel, Henrik or Kesler. Maybe even sit Hansen and Higgins too.

Trevor Linden seems to think coaching contributed to #Canucks' recent struggles: http://beta.thescore.com/news/477758

Nice to see that Linden was still actually watching the games while the rest of the city was tuning out.

I could see Quinn as an advisor. Kind of like Scotty Bowman in Chicago.

Quinn ain't no Bowman though when it comes to thinking the game IMO. But I don't mind that move, at least to have him as an advisor until a GM is named.

I never did see the logic in Torts hiring, any idea who the replacement could be?

I agree, but I still think he has a lot valuable insight. He is too old to be a GM but it would be nice to have him around to pick his brain now and then.

I remember a radio interview of Gillis during the slide and he defended Torts and his style by saying the players are professional and should be able to play any style/system put in front of them.

I am not sure if Torts can coach any style/system. I am not sure if it is pig headed stubbornness or lack of ability.

What ever happened to that AV fella?

As much as I couldn't stand the guy, AV got the Canucks to within 60 minutes of the Holy Grail. God, that seems like a long time ago.

Letting the Hawks and Bruins win Cups, when he possessed a more talented team?

Quinn actually made some pretty epic trades that led to the 94 playoff run, which in turn probably led to your conception after game 5 against Toronto.

You should be thankful for what Quinn has done for you!

Av's tenure was by far the most successful in franchise history.
And he's achieving success again.

I always thought he was a quality coach.

Had this convo in here awhile back. Aside from sentimentality over Nelson etc, I think unequivocally the nucks best ever coach

Yes, because I live in the Phoenix area, but I grew up in Sask. and have followed the Canucks from Day 1 in 1970. My first NHL game I ever went to was at the Pacific Coliseum. All these years later I've never really lost the interest in them.

AV had the best Canucks roster ever. He's a system coach who can't hit the curve.
