At least they're competent defensively(look up that word).

14M for competent defensive forwards. Sounds like money well spent.

Spezza to Toronto would be huge but still not likely to solve any problems. Sedins to the Isles for ..... Their top 5 pick plus ???? That would be great for Vancouver as they need to clean house and rebuild. New GM for starters. Then move the Sedins and Kesler. Keep their D though because they shall need it with all of their young forwards.

I could see the Sedins in places like Florida and Phoenix first. OR MAYBE a new expansion team could get them. That would be better since it would help Bettman pump up another bulls hit franchise. That's better I think.

awesome, 7 million a piece for two guys who are competent defensively, throw in Burrows and you are paying 18.5 mil per for a line that Phil Kessel outscored by 8 goals on his own

I think Spezza would be a very good fit in Toronto. But I don't think Nonis is prepared to give up a first round pick.

I believe Spezza will be traded. But, I see him going west coast. If, as I suspect, the Kings go out quickly in the playoffs (because they can't score) they become the team most interested in a center who can add scoring on their second line.

If we still had a gaping hole down the middle on line 1, I'd be all for it. However, with Bozak, having a solid year 7 mil would be a bit much for a #2 center. not to mention the cost would be Kadri ++

That Bobby Ryan trade is looking like overpayment.

Noeseon, Silverfberg and 7th/8th overall pick for a guy that was counted on to put up 30 goals and 65-70 points

- GardinerExpress

Noesen hasn't been impressive, and Silfverberg is nothing special. Sucks to lose the pick, but draft is being called weak. Bobby Ryan hasn't been our saviour by any means, but it wasn't overpayment.

If Bobby Lou can get traded with a contract that expires when he is 43, anyone can get traded. The leafs are not in the market to deal Phaneuf anyways just months after giving him an extension. Who would be on our top pairing then? Gunnnarson and Franson

Usually the dolts who mention Phaneuf in a trade are sens or nucks fans obsessed with Toronto

- GardinerExpress

The funny thing is Spezza is paid the same but they think he's worth a gold mine.

We'll see, remember when everyone thought the Kessel trade was one of the worst ever?
- Nucker101

They wrapped up Kessel for five years at the time. Ryan will be gone after two years. He's also nowhere near as good. Not even in the same ball park. Kessel outscores him by almost30 points a year. And that's counting years Ryan played with getzlaf and Perry.

If the Sens can't re-sign him, he will be traded.....and not to the leafs
- sensarmy_11

If the Sens are within 8 or 10 points of the playoffs, they won't trade him. Even if its unrealistic, Melnyk will put on his crazy hat and think they can make the playoffs. At which point you'll get nothing for him.

Melnyk will almost surely want the playoff revenue instead of the return.

actually, spezza is paid 4 mil this year......and when he signed his extension, he was a 100pt center.

when phaneuf signed his extension, he was already overrated and massively overpaid (and you gave him a raise) and a giant defensive liability.

but hey, if you guys like phaneuf at a 7 mil cap hit, until 2021.........who am i to judge.

If the Sedins have no trade clauses, theyll never be Islanders at any price. His rumor is dead on the vine.

Teams that matter, and are contending, don't care about actual pay, it's cap hit that matters. Bush league teams care about actual pay.

Phaneuf does more for the Leafs than Spezza does for the Sens.

yeah, that's pretty obvious when you see epic collapses 3 years in a row

7 MORE YEARS OF DION....WOOOOHOOOOOOO

now all you need to do is re-sign bolland at 5 mil per, and your debacle of a team will be complete. 22.5 mil for lupul, clarkson, bolland, and phaneuf

Lately ,most of this coming from Leafs fans. He's been one of the top scapegoats this year for sure.

Oh the Swede sounds of Brooklyn. The food is very good there also Hank and Danny. Good schools for the kids. They even have parks. They may get mugged but that is a different story.
