"Ovechkin to the Preds:
Just got inundated with this one...
Nashville would send 2 #1's, Dumont, Zidlicky and Suter (possibly Weber depending on who you talk to ) to Washington for Ovechkin and Kolzig?
I can tell you this much. There are some legs to this rumour. It could turn out to be enormous. The players vary depending on the source, but the bottom line is Ovechkin and Kolzig to the Preds..." - hankthetank
Good one Hank. That was Classic.
The trade is NOT Schenn for JVR. |

In fact, it is impossible that that one will ever be beaten.

What would the Isles have to give up to get the Sedins?
Tavares + 4th/5th overall pick?
Strome + G.Reinhart + 4th/5th pick? - jdfitz77
Why would the Isles trade their superstar, for 2 aging superstars? |

If the Sens can't re-sign him, he will be traded.....and not to the leafs - sensarmy_11
and then the sens get way less value at the deadline then they would if they traded him now. and then the leafs will still have a chance to sign him if he tests the market a-la Vanek |

Vanek was bumbled by Snow. If he had traded him a day or 2 earlier, he gets more than he paid. |

The market fluctuates though, remember when Paul Guastad got a first and every fan of a playoff team wanted their team to trade a 3rd or even a 2nd for fringe 4th liner Zenon Konopka(when he was an Islander). |

Again, it fluctuates IMO. There were tons of quality players available this season and many sellers, I do expect the same next year though since it's going to be a great tank race for McDavid/Eichel.
Ott has a bonehead GM? Murray is pretty solid, his owner is horrible though. |

but he is making 5 million to put up 20 points and be on the ice at even strength for more goals against than any other d-man in the league |

True...
However I fully believe he has the ability to bounceback, the guy was an all-star not too long ago and is still in his prime for a defensemen. I could see a guy like him thriving in Detroit, or even in Ottawa with a guy like Karlsson as an offensive pairing. I'd trade Garrison before him if all things were equal(same returns through trade). |

That Bobby Ryan trade is looking like overpayment.
Noeseon, Silverfberg and 7th/8th overall pick for a guy that was counted on to put up 30 goals and 65-70 points |

Nope but you have 14 million tied up on a set of twins that spent more time drinking geritol this winter than playing hockey |

14 million tied up in two guys who totaled 24 goals
throw clarkson on that line and it will be the most overpaid line in the league |
